Afternoon everyone:
In late November, I purchased a new-to-me RAM 2017 1500 Limited with 38,000 Kms/ 24,000 miles on it. Just after I picked it up, I took the truck to a local RAM dealer for an oil change and inspection service. The inspection came back 98% clean (see below).
At the time, though, I noticed a low-level vibration in the vehicle with the engine running and at a stop (e.g. in Park (with parking brake or main brake applied) or in Drive with the brakes applied). I took the vehicle back to the dealer and asked about this as I didn't think any vibration should be occurring. The Service rep said, "Yeah, nothing to worry about ... it's normal." However, I've spoken to a few other drivers who have the same drive-train and they've said "No, I've had no problem like that." Their vehicles were newer or slightly older.
And, as a matter of detail, the vibration is a bit rougher when the engine is cold vs. warm, yet it generally persists. Sometimes there is no vibration at all (truck is warm, in Drive and at stop) but that's rare. Apart from this, the engine runs smoothly and the RAM "purrs."
Has anyone experienced or is currently experiencing this issue, or am I "barking up a tree?" If this problem is occurring, any idea as to cause and likely remedy? In a few weeks time I'll take the RAM to another dealer for a "second opinion." (I don't think the Service rep I first dealt with was really interested in helping me ... he failed to provide a print-out of the Inspection report and did not tell me the Cabin Air Filter needed changing - even though the Inspection results called it out!)
Thanks in advance for your comments and suggestions.
Cheers and welcome to 2020!
