I’ve had issues with my 2015 Ram 1500 gaining temp while idling. Sitting watching fireworks last night, it got up to 235-240° so I research a bit and saw that the fan should run ANYTIME the air conditioner is on. Well, it was dark:30 and 85° outside so I tested it when I got back home and noticed the fan, even with the AC on, was only making a few (literally) RPMs.

I am aware of the V6 fan conversion but help me understand if the fan is truly crap or not. I don’t have the means of testing power, which I know many of you suggest first so keep in mind that as well as I want to keep as close to stock as I can. I’m just traditional like that.

Thank you!

Thank you!

There are a pretty limited number of options for fixing a problem, in pretty much any scenario.

You can do the diagnosing and testing yourself.

You can have someone else do it.

The parts cannon. You can replace the part you think is the most likely culprit, accepting the risk that you'll be replacing perfectly good parts.

If a replacement fan is cheap enough to justify the risk, then go for it.

Sounds like your electric condenser fan is toast
That’s what I’m leaning toward. There’s a few videos on YouTube about how to get it out but they seem all to take a different route so which would be the easiest for a first time doing it myself? I reassembled this months ago to finish a water pump job but I don’t want to do unnecessary work to get the fan out and replaced.

Mine is a 2011, but whenever I pop the hood I am glad the V6 fan resides in that space. Getting the stock fan out was easy, I used an air chisel, with a blunt end on the main nut of the mechanical fan, takes two seconds. Fan out the bottom, shroud out the top.
