I've got a little over 100k miles on my '09 5.7 4x4, and I've noticed a ticking noise coming from what sounds like the left side of the engine. I've only had the truck a month or so and was a little apprehensive about the miles but it seemed to have been well taken care of. The Tundra I got rid of had a noisy 5.7 as well, and was told by the dealer that the iForce is just a noisy engine. Is the same true for the Hemi? I'll be changing oil this week, gonna use either RP or Mobil 1. Anybody else dealt with the ticking noise?

Also, it's started making a buzzing/whistling sound that's coming from about where the bed and cab meet on the driver side. The tank was around 1/2-1/4 full when it was doing it. Could this be the fuel pump?

Thanks in advance for the help.

They say on here not to use Mobil 1 because is supposedly causes the "Hemi Tick". I've used nothing but Mobil 1 for the last 40,000 miles and I have no tick noise

Maybe you can post up some vids/sound clips for comparison. Mine always has a little bit of a tick on startup till the lifters get pressurized.

I used mobil 1 because thats what i have used for years in other cars. but I quickly developed the tick about 1K miles ago. its annoying more then anything. I have some stock M1 left that I will finish up using because why throw it away, then I will make the switch to Amsoil or RP to see if that gets rid of the ticking.

The Mobil One doesn't tick as bad as the Castrol with Syntec, My Engune has 160K Miles and I have used Lucas Dyno with one Bottle of Stabilizer and its all quiet.

Now I'm not an expert on the new Eagle heads but will say that I also put in new pushrods on my valvetrain at about 115 K miles and again recently (for Cam reasons) and did notice alot of Oblong wear on the ends/tips on the valve rockers end so I swapped them out. This would account for some ticking on startup for sure. So that said if it continues you could change those while you got your coils off for sparkplug change, just gotta pop the valve covers inspect your re-usable gaskets, remove the rails and swap out the rods all for less than 50 Bucks.
