I had a ninedrive and it worked great until it put me into limp mode. Had it for over a year before I ever had any issues. I have an unlocked pcm and adjusted my throttle percentage with my tuner. Isn't as pronounced as pedal commanders ,but definitely took the lag out. I'm also running a 91-93 octane tune with performance trans tune. The Trans tune from Diablo is actually a huge improvement for the Trans.

Did you ever make adjustments to the NineDrive, 'on the fly'?
Or when it dumped you into limp mode, was there anything that precipitated this transition?

There are a few solutions on the market with varying reviews.

Several have been very pleased with the inexpensive Nine-Drive from Amazon, but there are also a few related horror stories. Periodic limp mode, and one setting mode for forward and reverse, which could cause issues with parking in tight spaces (Only if you have it cranked up, so, is that the device or the loose nut behind the wheel?).

Many folks are convinced that the Banks Pedal Monster is the ultimate solution.
The stories are, if it fails, no limp mode. Backing up is the default OEM style, and IIRC, it connects to the OBD2 port, not the gas pedal.

Those who use the OBD2 port for other things add an OBD2 port splitter.

I have a Pedal Commander and am very happy with how it works. I had my truck in for warranty work yesterday and removed the PC after several months of fun. I can't wait to get it back in again; the difference is night and day.

I had it set to City +4 and have been very happy with the instantaneous throttle response.
I detuned it to City +2 after the roads have become filled with snow and slush, which seems adequate, although I need to stay focused on not stomping the skinny pedal.

I remember the fun factor of driving '70s & early '80s V8s, and AFAIC, I will never own a recent model V8 without a PC or like device.

Thanks, Dave.

Toyota paid a HUGE fine for NOT having default of the drive by wire go to idle and nearly lost their ability to sell vehicles in USA, when the California State trooper and his family died in a rental that had the throttle stuck at wide open, along with MANY complaints to the same. Toyota tried to blame the floormat... uh, yeah, sure. Funny how they redesigned the system to function like all the others by defaulting to idle.
I would never install any thing that defeats the default to idle, which is a major safety protocol.

Gale Banks seem like a good dude, and I'd hate anything happen to him in the legal sense.

Wow!

AFAIR, my '07 Tundra Limited was the first year of them being built in the USA.

$2.3B will put a hole in your pocketbook. Ouch, but it does sound like they pulled a scam and got caught.

So, Toyota, trusted by so many, was busted again for another enormous scandal last January.
$1.6B down the toilet for this scam. Hmm, it seems we have a theme.

Its just a safety issue, when I'm ready to merge, turn on my blinker and press the gas, I need that truck to move...not 13 seconds from when I press the pedal, NOW
I really don't find that an issue. If you merge correctly, you shouldn't have to punch it suddenly to get into a lane. Plus the lag is so short it really doesn't matter. A lot of it is the transmission downshifting suddenly. But maybe it's different with my V6. Maybe with that V8 it's a little different because of the extra two cylinders lumbering around :roflsquared:

Funny (sic) fact..... The APP unit that was blamed for the Toyota debacle was made by the very same company that manufactured for the big 3, but to Toyota's specs; which omitted idle default.
For those who remember the Audi 5000 debacle of the good old days, THAT gave birth to the shifter lock out which required the brake pedal be pressed.

Has anyone besides me ever noticed that THIS problem NEVER occurred on a stick shift car! NOT one!
