It's been awhile since I've been on the forum so please bare with me.
Has anyone had any luck with Banks Pedal Monster?
I'm reading mixed reviews, but I got to find an answer to that annoying lag when I press the go pedal.
Let me know.
Thanks!
Martin

There are a few solutions on the market with varying reviews.

Several have been very pleased with the inexpensive Nine-Drive from Amazon, but there are also a few related horror stories. Periodic limp mode, and one setting mode for forward and reverse, which could cause issues with parking in tight spaces (Only if you have it cranked up, so, is that the device or the loose nut behind the wheel?).

Many folks are convinced that the Banks Pedal Monster is the ultimate solution.
The stories are, if it fails, no limp mode. Backing up is the default OEM style, and IIRC, it connects to the OBD2 port, not the gas pedal.

Those who use the OBD2 port for other things add an OBD2 port splitter.

I have a Pedal Commander and am very happy with how it works. I had my truck in for warranty work yesterday and removed the PC after several months of fun. I can't wait to get it back in again; the difference is night and day.

I had it set to City +4 and have been very happy with the instantaneous throttle response.
I detuned it to City +2 after the roads have become filled with snow and slush, which seems adequate, although I need to stay focused on not stomping the skinny pedal.

I remember the fun factor of driving '70s & early '80s V8s, and AFAIC, I will never own a recent model V8 without a PC or like device.

Thanks, Dave.

I recently installed the Banks Pedal Monster in my 2024 2500 6.4L Ram.

Here's the review I posted on the Banks site after the installation and some tweaking on the settings.

Banks Pedal Monster Review: Seamless Setup, Smart Features & Great Performance

Installing the Banks Pedal Monster was a refreshingly smooth experience. The instructions provided on the Banks website are clear, concise, and easy to follow—ideal for DIYers who appreciate straightforward guidance. Physical installation of the throttle controller took just 15 minutes, and the required firmware update was completed quickly without hassle.

Calibration and performance tuning through the Banks app was intuitive and user-friendly. I initially selected the Sport mode at Level 6, which delivered a noticeable boost in throttle response. After the first test drive, I dialed it back to Level 4 for a more balanced feel. One particularly useful feature is the Speed Trim setting, which I adjusted to reduce pedal sensitivity below 10 MPH. This tweak will make a big difference when towing or navigating stop-and-go traffic, offering smoother starts without sacrificing responsiveness.

Customer service at Banks is world class. They respond quickly, they provide excellent advice and they truly help their customers make installing and adjusting the Pedal Monster an easy task.

Overall, the Banks Pedal Monster is a well-designed, highly effective tool for customizing throttle behavior to suit your driving needs. Whether you're looking for sharper acceleration or more refined control in low-speed situations, it delivers with precision and ease.

If you can't tell by the writing above, YUP, I like it.

I had the BD Diesel variety. Was pleased with it and no issues. Although, fuel mileage and DEF usage suffered so I removed it.

I love it too.

Did you check your settings in the App you downloaded to your phone?

The Pedal Monster has 4 main operating modes. Each mode has 10 power settings, with setting 10 being the most sensitive and setting 1 is the least sensitive.

I started with the Sport mode with sensitivity setting at 10. That was a bit much but before I dialed that down I read further into the instructions. I eventually set it at Sport/8 plus I made one other tweak to the Speed Based Trim.

The Pedal Monster has a function called Speed Based Trim. Speed Based Trim reduces Pedal Monster’s sensitivity below 10 MPH. This function comes in handy for towing or driving on slick surfaces. Speed-based trim offers 5 levels, with level 1 removing the least amount of added throttle sensitivity and level 5 removing all of the PedalMonster’s added sensitivity below 10 MPH. I have mine set at 2. Now I don't have to worry about jerking my trailer around when towing. The added benefit is that with Speed Based Trim you have a very linear pedal sensitivity when first pulling away from a stop.

All of this information is contained in the Banks online installation manual. You can find it here:

I don't notice lag in normal driving it all. I have noticed if I punch it there's a little bit of lag, but I normally ease into it anyway. I just don't like putting trick things on it, and messing with the tune.

I've seen many people in motorhome forums that add a certain trick tune to their Ford V10, and I've also seen many times where the V10 blows up, and it's had that tune. I like to keep the equilibrium that the engineers designed into the engine and drivetrain. You make a little shift here or there, and it can throw everything out of whack, in my opinion

I really miss the days of having an actual mechanical connection from the throttle pedal to the throttle plate. Every vehicle I’ve owned with throttle by wire has had some amount of throttle lag. The last car I bought with an actual throttle cable was a 2004 GTO.

You're not driving a V8, though, but whatever floats your boat.

I drove many V8s in the '70s & '80s. I paid for a V8 and really enjoy the feeling of driving one without the lame a$$ed reponse that was engineered to reduce warranty claims.
Or, drive-by-wire, whatever you want to call it.

Almost every time I drive my truck, I have an absolute blast, thanks to the Pedal Commander. Thanks for corruption, Kieth.

You and me both Mike,i miss the feedback you get with a mechanical throttle cable. Everytime i jump in my old winter beater Regal with a throttle cable,it reminds me how much drive by wire systems suck

That's absolutely fine, everyone can do as they wish. My zoom-zoom days are long gone, I just like a truck that drives well and doesn't break down.

Lol...quite welcome my friend. I'm still happy with my Pedal Monster, though it stays in the same "mode" 90% of the time.

Same here with the PC.

I tried some of the Sport settings when I first started testing, but quickly settled on City +4.
And it remained there until the roads became a sloppy mess.

I dialled it back to City +2 until the roads dry up again.

Its just a safety issue, when I'm ready to merge, turn on my blinker and press the gas, I need that truck to move...not 13 seconds from when I press the pedal, NOW

I'm reading mixed reviews, but I got to find an answer to that annoying lag when I press the go pedal.

I have the banks pedal monster and enjoy it! Worth the investment and trust the design versus other options/makes in this category. I have had the other brand that is well known and nope never ever again that was a nightmare. The banks has been 100% reliable.
