I wasn't even aware my 21 BTS had them lol. While towing my small utility trailer down the highway my CEL came on. I checked the codes and P1D73 "AGS operation" was present. Is there a way to safely delete them?

You can tune the CEL out with a tuner and physically remove the entire assembly from the truck. Some folks pull all the grids except the top and bottom on each side, which doesn't cause a CEL, and others pull the entire assembly minus the actuator and use a screw to "trick" the actuator into thinking it's working properly

I ended up clearing the code and continued to drive because I'm out of state but the light came back on about 45 minutes later. When I get back home I'll start diagnosing it to see if it's a shutter issue or a bad actuator

So, a little update. I got to my destination and because it was bugging the crap out of me that the light was on, I ended up pulling the radiator support cover off to gain access to the assembly behind the grill. Anyway, I replaced the trucks battery a few months ago and apparently I didn't throw away those little red and black plastic battery post covers that came on the new battery. Welp, I found those little plastic covers lol. After fishing out both of the plastic battery post covers that were perched on top of the shutter actuator preventing the shutters from moving I could move the shutters by hand. To test it out I closed the shutters all the way by hand then cleared the code and went for a 30 mile ride back into town to pick up a few things with my buddy. We got back to his house and the shutters were fully opened and the light is still off. So, I think I fixed my own f'up lol.

I think those shutters are the best thing since sliced bread. Their default fail is open. If you have someone start the vehicle and watch through the grill you can see the shutters go through a test cycle of closing and opening just after start up. Up here, where it gets to -55, there is a great deal of upside to having those stay closed to heat the engine and cab up. Also solves the problem of too cool engine temp when running down the highway at 65 mph. Don't have to put cardboard and rug in front of the rad anymore.

In hot weather, the shutters stay open and provide almost zero interference to air going across the rad. I really don't see why so many people want to remove them. To me they are one of the better recent new options.

Like any other features on these trucks, my main concern with them is if/when they malfunction. When operating normally I have no issues with them.

Back when i still ran them,i had them freeze shut in a really humid/foggy day that was just below freezing, you know one of those days that hangs frost icicles off the antenea/mirrors etc

But, did your engine temp run in the normal range?
At that time i had a 160 t-stat installed and it was running at 190,so no. It wasn't anywhere close to over heating, but it did run warmer,i also had the heater running full tilt, and that makes a differance. If they stick closed which they have been known to do,they will over heat a stock truck on a hot day

I removed the middle shutters and left top & bottom as I've read in several places online that it prevents the check engine light but I'm still getting P1D73 "AGS system". Can anyone with a Diablo delete this or do I need to contact a professional tuner??

It sounds like you had the code prior to removing the shutters right?
As far as deleting the code, there's more to it than just finding somebody with a diablo (or other tuner). You'd have to have your pcm unlocked for starters.
