Looking for advice to see if you can add factory remote start to the 8.4A uconnect? I talked to service today at my dealer and he said they have a package for $430 that adds factory remote start with two new key fobs, but he was unable to tell me if the feature would work through the uconnect APP on your iphone. That's what I'm really looking for, otherwise I'll wait for a firmware update on the cheapo remote start. Anyone have any idea?

the remote start works with replacement key and a new win/gateway module. it would not go through the radio at all. it is cheaper though to buy and install remote start than it is to buy 2 keys

I talked to Uconnect support. They say if I purchase the factory remote start (with new fobs) it'll then work through uconnect. Now I need to figure out if the uconnect option is worth $430.... Especially not knowing what the monthly fee will be in the future. My work is like a cave though, it'd be much easier to remote start through the computer vs. walking outside... I guess when this is considered a big decision life is pretty rough LOL.

Does anyone know how hard it would be (if even possible) to install the chrysler remote start myself? I was told $430 installed... I'm assuming that's a $200 part and $230 labor. Shoulda had this negotiated into the cost of the truck along with the Nav upgrade. DOH

$430 installed for that kind of feature sounds like a pretty good deal to me. The xpresskit DBAll and a SmartStart for it would run you around $300 I believe doing the install yourself. I'd pay the extra for OEM and probably some kind of warranty with it and the install I would guess.

Before installing it yourself, you might want to ask if there is a flash required to unlock it once it's installed. Or maybe someone on here will chime in with that answer.

I originally went to do the <$100 DBAll route but there is no firmware for 2013 yet and the response back from the company wasn't positive. (They really didn't answer the question if there would be). I guess I'll go the factory route. I used to do installs for best buy 10 years ago, so I'd rather do it myself but you're right $430 isn't bad.

As popular as they seem to be on these trucks, I can't imagine them (xpresskit) not putting something out for the 2013. I can't have my phone with me at work, so I used the DBAll without the SmartStart. Plus, I don't have the fancy factory navigation unit, or I may have looked into the OEM stuff. If they warranty the product and the install, I'd say that's a good deal.

And my guess is, with the amount of stuff controlled by computers on these trucks and the types of keys they use, that $430 is mainly to cover the cost of new fobs and the dealership to unlock something in the computer to make it work. I'd almost bet they don't have to actually install anything on the truck. Except maybe an RF module for the fobs?

That's exactly what I was thinking. Wife gave me the "ehhhh" which means yes!
