Hello All, I'm hoping someone can clue me in on adding radio controls to my steering wheel. I have a Canadian Spec. 2011 Ram 1500 SLT outdoorsman. It has just about everything I wanted but the Steering wheel controls. It already has EVIC from the factory. I picked up a leather Steering wheel with the radio controls and swapped it in. It obviously does not work.
I know I have to take it to a dealer to get it re flashed, what my concern is I'm about an hour away. I need some duplicate keys so I called ahead and they said no problem adding sales code RDZ but I have my doubts from reading way to many posts on this subject. I don't want to take a half day off of work to get this done only to have the dealer fail . Or to have them say they have to call MOPAR to get the vin changed when I'm sitting there and then have to come back. I did give the service tech my last 8 digits of my VIN but he said he couldn't get all the info he wanted as it was made for Canada..
From my searching it looks like steering wheel controls were an option on my truck. Is there something I can do to guarantee the dealers success? Can I call Chrysler and have them add the sales code?
Any thoughts? Is it not really an issue with 2011?
