Just a quick question. I see people adding the steering wheel volume controls to upgrade 5.0 to the 8.4. Can I add on the steering wheel controls to my 3.0 unit that doesn't have Bluetooth or uconnect. Thanks.

Interesting according to the uconnect and Ram websites the RA1 3.0 radio is not compatible with the steering wheel controls.

Has anyone actually installed them and used them with the RA1, my truck came with the RA1 but I upgraded the radio before I installed the SWC switches so I never actually tried them withy the RA1.

They work with the ra1. I installed them a week prior to swapping out the 3.0

cgeorgemo's write up is great. Takes an hour to an hour and a half at the most to do it and it's a great install. I recommend it. You can get the kit from allmoparparts.com. They're a vendor on here.

I have the basic RA1 Uconnect 3.0 non touch screen plain nothing. Added the steering wheel controls a few days ago and I assure you they work just fine. Actually already fallen in love with them.

That being said, I just came home to find a Uconnect 5.0 had been delivered today so it is now installed.

Be careful, you can add the controls as others have mentioned. Use the write ups and enjoy the new feature. But before you know it, you will want to upgrade the deck!
