Could be the guy lost financing and it was a repo, or could be he didn't like the truck for a reason. I'd pass on 39k for a used truck, but that's just me. Love those ram boxes though, I don't know how cheap you can get one of those in new sales, I'd research that. Maybe get a warranty, dunno.

big horn with r box new 34 grand.

Just an FYI, but that truck's sticker is almost $10k cheaper than a sport with all the features he listed.

I still think it is a fair price for what is included (as long as it has 3.92 gears and a LSD). He may be able to get a little bit more off, but even if he doesn't that isn't a bad price.

The ram sports are about 52 grand w/o the ram box, you can get those for 40k. Add the box, maybe he saves a couple/few grand. For that much money, I'd go new, or look for an older one with like 50k miles and get it way cheaper. Just my opinion.

I agree open market, hard to find ram box, for some reason guys just don't want to sell those trucks.

Well, in June I got my SLT, fully loaded, for 37k Canadian. It was part of their clearance for stuff they had already at the dealers. The sticker price was 57k.

Thats 20k less.

New vs used for a few thousand dollars? New any day of the week. Not to mention, finance rates on used cars are stupid.

I know there's a website where the OP can input the VIN and get a complete build sheet, but I don't have that link handy. Isn't there also a site where one can get a copy of the original Mulroney sheet (window sticker)?

Best,

Hey guys,

Thanks for all the input and advice from anyone. I will try to answer all the questions but I might miss a couple and I'm sorry.

- It has the 3.21 and not the 3.92
- The lsd is not listed on the website so I'm unsure and will ask
- I plan on putting some money down and financing th rest. I got a 3.34 rate I don't have great or bad credit.
- I plan on getting a third part inspector or appraiser to look at the vehicle before I purchase due to the mileage anomaly.
- I am planning on not spending more than 38K on it. If it goes more than that I will just wait for a new one and hope the end of year sales event is good this year.
- I have found a few sports in the low to mid 40s with comparable options. My max OTD was 38K and I'm already gonna go over that with taxes and title and registration so I don't want to keep creeping up on price.
- I don't want a bighorn or slt. The sport model is what I want so that limits my options.
- I haven't looked at the vehicle in person yet. I rotate home from deployment in a couple of weeks and plan on checking it out then. When I finally check it out I think I will get a feeling of what to ultimately do.
- if the vehicle checks out good and I can get it for 38K I'm saving probably about 5-6K from buying new. 6k discount for 7000 miles over the lifespan of a truck seems like a good deal to me. Especially when I don't want to pay in the 40s.

Again, thank you for all the help. I will post some pics if I get it. Any other advice or help will be appreciated.

Tell them 36k OTD and if they say no - walk away and tell him to give you a call when he's ready. Show him Dennis Dillion and say you can get a new one for 37k. Did this with my boat and Charger. Got the Charger for 10k off sticker OTD after a week of back and forth. Trucks are easy to come by, don't be sold on this one.

Hey everyone,

Just an update, but I decided to not buy the truck. I offered the dealer 37K and he told me he couldn't go that low. I told him he knows where to find me if he needs to get rid of it. I am currently searching for a new 2017 Black Ram 1500 Sport group 4x4 Crew Cab. I have found a few in the lower 40s but those don't have all of the big 3 options I want (leather, sunroof, and rambox). When talking to these dealerships it seems that they don't want to discount their trucks past rebates/incentives. Is everyone having that problem? I haven't officially offered anyone a price, that might be part of it. Anyways I have read a lot of forum reviews on 3.92 vs 3.21 and the LSD. It seems the consensus is to try and find a truck with those. I don't have a lead foot, so my main concern is the MPG on a 3.92 to a 3.21. What do y'all think?

The difference in MPGs won't be that great. If you don't tow heavy you'll be fine with 3.21s. I've had both 3.21 and 3.92 and IMO there isn't that much difference. Others will say there is but I've actually owned both and have driven thousands of miles and not just a 20 minute test drive. But opinions vary. You should go test drive one of each and see what you think.

I would check out dennis dillion ram in idaho. They have pretty good deals. You may have to order one to get the ramboxes. If I was going to buy another truck with what I know now, that would be my choice. And I would probably get the 3.92 axle too.

If you find one you want, don't let the dealer know you have been searching for it, but go in and see what they can do. They can get a lot lower once you go in and show you are serious. It also depends on the dealer. Some dealers don't like to budge, others will give you 25% off before haggling.
