These were a ***** and a half to install but really happy with the results! Idk how I was able to tighten some of those bolts. Only issue now is I think I didn’t plug the O2 sensors into the right plug. Minor details tho. Sound is much better with the headers than just the exhaust alone. Very pleased with the results! Pictures is the before and after wrapping them. And here is a sound clip of my complete exhaust system.

Nice job! Headers suck. Always did, always will. Sounds great. Just curious, did you fire it up just "open headers" before hooking up the rest of the exhaust? Thats BIG Fun!

What was the pain in the ass part? And what’s the reason for rapping the headers? I’m about to install a set next week

I kinda wish I would have tested it out with just the headers. It is super loud. More loud than I thought it would be. I might get a bigger muffler to quiet it down some. The biggest pain in the ass was getting to the bolts! I needed baby arms to get to the bolt to tighten them up. Taking off the old headers were easy! Even with 100K miles on and no penitrating oil. I’m sure there is two or three bolts that aren’t tightened to spec. And I wrapped the headers to keep the engine compartment cooler with the CAI that I have. Also to keep the air turbulence down on the exhaust as it says it does. I wasn’t going to do it. But I went to the auto store for last minute tools, and it was there, so I figured why not!? I’m happy that I did it tho!

Do you have a tuner? If so you need to have your tuner adjust the tune with the headers. If not, you won't realize the full performance potential of the headers.

I have one. Haven’t installed it yet tho. I am waiting for the new PCM to come in before I hook it all up. I have the diablo trinity 2.

I don’t know arh. But figment was spot on. Very easy to slide it. My only issue was bolt location. Getting to and Tightening them down was the hardest part on half the bolts. But I had no issues with spacing sliding the headers in place. I didn’t even need to remove the dipstick tube or remove the steering column shaft. And I thought the quality was great. No complaint on that. They are solid built.

That's good to hear on the dipstick and steering column. Lots of people (myself included) are hesitant on a header swap if having to deal with those additional headaches.

How'd you get around not removing the dipstick? Do you have pics installed?

Headers slid unplaced easily from the rear. Gasket was the same. No bolts were in line with the dipstick or the shaft. I of course just had to in bolt the dipstick from the bolt on the headers. But it was never removed completely.

Can’t agree any more. A. Custom tune makes all the difference

So I am curious how they are after 6 months. I ordered a set with catted y last week. they are on backorder till next week. But AFE had the kit on sale from their website. $300 cheaper than anywhere else. I plan on wrapping them too.

My advise on installing long tube headers---BEFORE you install the headers, make sure you have insulated or wrapped any wires or lines that are close to the header tubes. This includes the brake line and fuel line that are attached to the inside of the frame rail. If possible these two lines need to be moved up to the hole that is about 3" above where they are attached right now. The transmission cable should wrapped and/or use the relocation bracket to keep it away from the header tubes. Make sure you route and zip tie all the wires as far away from the header tubes as possible, cause those tubes get realllllly hot. If you have any of the "black cable covering plastic", you can use it to cover the O2 extention wires. It won't prevent them from burning through if they contact the header tubes but it does make for a "neater" looking installation. If you don't do these things, it is a pain in the ass to try to do it afterwards. I didn't do it, and I am almost to the point of having the headers removed and selling them. Way to much hassle. The plus side is the substantial increase in power and acceleration after the re-tune.
