After-market cabin air filter (and door) retrofit

Hello All, I have a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7L and it has no cabin air filter. I want to install an aftermarket kit where you cut out a hole in the HVAC box (exact cutout is already outlined from the factory), then slide in the cabin air filter and snap the new door to cover it.

BUT...I can't find a kit that says it is compatible with a 2006 Ram. It seems the kits start at 2009 model years.

Has anyone ever put one of these on a 2006 (or 3rd Gen) Ram? I'm wondering if a kit that works on an '09 will actually work on an '06 too.

That's because it isn't. There wouldn't be anywhere for the cover to snap on to. It was an option on 4th gens so it could be added if it wasn't built with it. If he has the cut out outline would he not also have the cover lock tabs ?

I had to do the mod on my 2015 4th gen !
Not too hard to do !
As mentioned by HEMIL you may not have the lock tabs on the left end right side ! ? I know nothing about 3rd gen !
