Aftermarket backup camera

Can a aftermarket backup camera be connected to the uconnect 5.0? Is the video wire already in the tailgate or do I have to run one from the back of the radio? Thanks!

More than likely the tailgate harness is there but the body harness going from rear to front isn't. You can tell by looking under the rear of the truck just slightly to driver side of spare tire. Just follow the existing body harness up to where it connects to tailgate harness. If you just see two wires on connector you need a new body harness. I just installed the oem back up camera kit on my 2014 1500 Express.

Most aftermarket cameras use a standard video connector input. You don't have one on the back of the 5.0. Just a place on the connector to add the three pins that comes with the oem camera kit.

No the harness is NOT there.

search around for backup cam. if you want to spend alot you can do the link posted above.

the option is to have the dealer turn on the XAC code and just plug any cam into the factory harness in the camera location.

search the forum both of these are talked about in great depth.

i did the XAC version and only have about 75 into my cam
