2017 2500 Tradesman CCLB, diesel, 4x4. Swapped center console for aftermarket police cruiser style radio console (no, I'm not trying to cosplay a cop, it just works better for mounting my 2 way radios and computers). Didn't touch the yellow connector under the driver's seat, removed the other 3 gray ones.

Started up the truck this morning, and got an immediate warning to service the air bag system. Is there anything to do with the air bag system within the console itself, or is this just a coincidence?

I do recall thinking there seemed to be a lot more wires going in to the console than would be needed for an aux port and power outlet, but none of the 3 console connectors were yellow.

I would get a scanner capable of interfacing with the airbag module and see what the exact code is.
Do a visual check of the wiring under both the driver and passenger seat. Always a chance you accidentally knocked one of the wires under those seats loose or disturbed the wiring harness when doing the center console. Maybe unplug and replug in the connectors.

For what it's worth - Once I was looking / digging for something that fell down between the console and the driver's seat and must have "disturbed" the air bag connection because when I started the truck the next day the air bag light was on. I pushed the connector under the drivers' seat together (even though it was never pulled on or disconnected....) and the light went off and hasn't came back on since - this was a couple of years ago.

and passenger seat.

God...I feel like the biggest dolt ever, lol. As soon as I read passenger seat, I remembered I had to pull the passenger seat to unbolt the bracket under the console. Instead of just removing it, I unbolted it and leaned it back...then something popped, and it fell all the way back.

I didn't think much of it at the time, but just went out this morning to look at it, and sure enough - big yellow connector pulled apart. Plugged the two back together, and no more airbag warning...

Thanks for the memory refresher!

Late to the thread…but just thought to add (in case anyone cared)…. the center console sometimes includes a “roll-over” sensor which involves the air bags and the fuel shut-off valve.
