So no idea whats going on but I think my compressor maybe. The air con doesn't work at all. Only hot air. I got it regassed and it had a very very very mild chill on it for a few days but was barely noticable. Also when I accelerate it makes a loud whooshing sound that Sounds like the air con, but under full throttle it stops. I really miss aircon especially with how hot it is here. Anyone know what the go is? It's a 1995 5.9 petrol

This is a common problem on Rams and is part of what is called "wild vent" syndrome.

What that means is it can be anything from a cracked or loose hose on your HVAC unit under the dash to bad one way valves (on firewall vacumn tree) or a blend door motor. I'd guuess it's one of the first two based on your described symptoms.

I know there's no a lot of info on RF but there are a couple threads on here regarding this. If you google or search the net itself, you'll get a boatload of hits. Try "Dodge Ram wild vents" and see what you get.

well unless you have ac gauges or know someone who does you gonna have to take it in to see whats going on. It sounds like you may have a large leak and the charge they put in leaked back out. or the compressor could be bad and just not pumping anymore. But with out the pressures its hard to say exactly what the problem is.

Sounds like what happened to me... the AC clutch failed... I got a little bit of cool after it stopped working, then nothing but warm air... replaced the clutch from a wrecker compressor and everything seems to be happy again.

As a former EPA & ASE certified A/C mechanic I applaud you. I have said what you have said so many times I seldom post on A/C questions anymore.
