Air suspension issues

I just bought my 2017 Ram Rebel one month ago. It has 35x12.5 Toyo Open country tires on it. For the first three weeks it was perfect no issues or anything. Last week I noticed my truck sitting lower than usual, and then when I started to drive it leaving work for lunch it seemed to be very bumpy and then it felt like it corrected itself. Since then my truck will not go up any higher, I hear the compressor running but I have maybe an inch to 2 inches of clearance between my tires and wheel welds. I’ve tried to do all the resets and pulled the fuses checked them nothing blown. When I hold down lower and lift buttons I get a service air suspension system message on the dash. While driving it stays blinking on the dash that it’s “raising” but not actually raising. Anyone else had this issue or advice for a fix. I think something in the software or electrical isn’t communicating properly. Sounds to me like you have a leak in the system if the compressor is running but the truck isn't raising up. It feels bumpy because you're likely riding on the bump stops. The one thing you can count on with air suspension is that it will eventually fail. If you want to retain air suspension you'll need to diagnose the problem yourself or have a shop do that. There are conversion kits available to swap to conventional springs if you would rather just get rid of air suspension.

Time to rid yourself of the factory air suspension, that's a known nuisance system, and replace it with a nice set up that you can count on and not have to think about anymore.

I have a 2014 ram 1500 that was doing the same thing. I also thought it might be the air compressor since sometimes it would work fine but other times it wouldn't. i decided to fix it myself. order the dorman 949-301 air suspension refill kit. also ordered a nitrogen bottle and the alfaobd and OBDLINK mx+ to check the codes and to reset if it went into limp mode. When i run the test in alfaobd it showed one of my back air bags was a lot lower then the rest of them. ordered two back air bags and replaced both at the same time. refilled with nitrogen. it did go into lump mode when trying to release the air thru the alfaobd software but was able to clear the code with alfaobd. now it fixed with no leaks.

Also on mine it was the front end that was always lower. At first it would air back up after starting and driving a few miles then it started taking a long time to fill up and if I tried to go into offroad mode it would blink but take a long time (15 to 30 mins) airing up. I think it was trying to refill the storage tanks and the compressor would overheat. when driving on bump stops it felt like it was on the back bump stocks. It seems like when left overnight it depended on what was closed on the air valve going to the different tires on if it would act right or not. There are some video's that shows how to check for leaks and how to replace the air bags. Just make sure you drained the system of air before disconnecting the fittings. the Dorman 949-301 has a valve to drain the storage tanks. Still costed around 1000.00 to fix but cheaper than taking it to the dealer or doing the delete. Plus next time I have problems I have everything I need to diagnose so next time it won't cost as much to fix
