The OP is asking about a 4th gen 1500. The air suspension system on 4th gens seems to have been much less reliable than the updated system on 5th gen 1500's. Assuming your '19 Laramie is a 5th gen, it is not surprising to me that you haven't had any issues with your air suspension. My 19 Laramie has been trouble free from the air suspension, and except for com issues from a dead battery almost no bad issues of any kind.
Having owned 4th gens and 5th gens both with and without air suspension, I don't see that the air suspension makes ride quality better. Choice of tire will make more of a difference IMHO. I like having air suspension for other reasons, like ride leveling while towing (within payload ratings of course), dropped down for easy entry and exit for the shorter passengers, and lift it up to OR2 for working under the truck on a creeper without the need to jack it up or use ramps. It has some design flaws that tend to show up more often if your in high humidity or freeze prone areas. I for one would gladly buy another with air suspension, ride quality can NOT be beat.
Just plan on switching it out for regular struts/shocks they make kits for it.I am considering the purchase of a 2018 Laramie Longhorn with air suspension. Is this system overly trouble-prone? Should I be looking at something else?
