I recently traded in my 1500 for a 2014 2500 Megacab, 6.4 L, 3.73. I usually tow a 34' TT in Alaska and found that no matter what I put on the 1500 (air bags, new tires, etc.), I couldn't get rid of that "floating" feel that the front end would occasionally surprise me with even with a weight distribution hitch.

My question is, has anyone who owns a 2014 2500 put air bags on it? I am currently looking at the Airlift Loadlifter 5000 w/on board compressor due to trailer usually maxing out loaded at 8000 - 9000. I know that this truck can handle the weight without a problem but was wondering if anyone has had a "sag" issue because of tongue weight, and they were using a weight distribution hitch?

My dad has the airlift 5000 his f-250 ( he used them for a 39ft goose neck car hauler with a 60 gallon fuel tank and a 3cyl diesel generator in the front.) but I honestly don't think you'll need them. Your truck has roughly 700 lbs more payload than his. At 9000lbs the Max tounge weight you should have is 1350 witch is only 45% of your payload. I don't think you'll sag unless you load it down with fire wood or something heavy plus your trailer.

I put 1 ton in the bed of my truck "2k" pounds and it almost lvled the truck out and it did amazing . I dont know what the toung/ hitch weight of your trailer is, but if I were you I would tow first and see how it feels. I too came from a 1/2 ton and the difference is amazing.

I agree with the other, I to had two 1500 but traded up the the 2500 2014 5.7 hemi which the payload should be anywhere from 2500 up lbs of payload.

I've got a buddy who has them on his 2500 chev. He has the wireless remote too. I was with him when he used them once. His wife was inside the truck with the remote and lifted it right up with the trailer to level it! So cool!

Thank you all for all your advice. I was thinking along the same lines as not needing them but I had to ask. Now I just have to concentrate on getting a sleeve to make the 2" hitch fit into the 2 1/2" receiver.

Again thanks:favorites13: all

Is your truck at stock height or leveled?

I just got a 2014 2500 CTD and pulled about 12k lbs of caliche last week (3 trips) and my truck sat about level.

im considering doing a front level on my truck but im afraid it would make it sag when i pull anything close to the 12k lbs i pulled last week.

To level or leave stock? :/

Did you buy your truck new? It should have come with the sleeve, although I'd try to go with a 2.5" hitch if possible. I use the sleeve with a 10" drop, and there is a ton of slop.

Yes, this. I only got a 2" bar because I wanted an adjustable hitch and the only 2.5" drawbars were 3 times the money I payed for mine.

How are you liking it?

I have yet to tow anything. Everything I have had set up has fallen through, I out the hitch in for the first time last Saturday thinking I was going to go get a generator with a guys trailer only to find out he was going to tow it, so I put it through all of the salt for nothing. While it was in though it rattles like none other. I hope when there is a trailer on it doesn't rattle that much.

To me the 2.5 reciver is silly. There is no point in it other than to make more money off people. They make 2in bars that are rated for the full class 5.

I also doubt it'll rattle to much with a trailer on there.

Believe it or not I just found the sleeve under the back seat the other day lol. I am going to try to tow my TT with the sleeve first and see how it does. If I get a bunch of movement I will definitely be switching over to a 2.5 hitch. Thanks for the info!

I knew the sleeve was there, but I didn't know a pin was included as well. So one of the guys at work gave me an extra one because I thought I didn't have one. The other day I went to use that sleeve for the first time and found 2 pins, I guess I should have checked under that seat a little better!
