Akkon projector experience

Hey guys, purchased akkon projectors for the ram.

They arrived today and were packaged great. The white led running light looks perfect. Fitment is perfect and aiming them is easy buttt

I ignored advice and put led bulbs in the projectors. Wow DEFINITELY DO NOT do that. I can't see a ******* thing.

The quads put out 80% more light. Hoping hids will fix that

Any suggestions for bright hid kits without errors im open to advice!

That being said as I expected im throwing codes

Headlights out

What's the solution?

I had luck with my morimoto kit from the guys over at retro shop. Went with the 35w 5k bulbs. Stock projectors and I’m very happy. Only kink in the process was one of the wires in the connection from ballast to bulb was reversed. Strangest thing. But all I had to do was flip the connection 180° and no issues since.

Get AlfaOBD and set headlights to HID and other lights to LED.

If the parking light uses the truck's 3157 harness you need a decoder between the plug & light.
Something like this:

That should fix the error. As for HIDs, I've been running HYB 55W CANBUS safe ballasts with Xtremevision 6000k H11s and they're pure white and bright, no errors and 3 second warm-up.
You'll have to drill a hole in the dust cover.

I did download the app everyone suggested. Wonder if that will bypass the need for the harness. Below ill add vision difference between my quads and these projectors. Just crazy

AlfaOBD will fix the bulb out problem on headlights. For park lights it may or may not depending on the year of the truck and the load presented by the bulb. Switchback bulbs have a tendency to completely shut off the park light when the turn signal comes on. The computer detects the loss of current draw and throws a bulb out alert. If they leave the parking light on with the turns you won't have a problem.

Wow that 1st pic looks horrible. You sure the LEDs are clocked correctly at 3 & 9 in the housings?
I have factory quads & run HID lows & LED highs.
As for the info, just past experience with converting my 2010.
BTW, the AlphaOBD app is useless without the ObdMXlink interface.

How do you have the LED positioned within the housing? I've seen similar results by others when the LEDs were positioned wrong for the housing. If memory serves me correctly, you would have to position LEDs so they're at the 12 & 6 o'clock positions for best performance. There is a bunch on here running the Hikari LEDs in the Alpharex projector headlights with great output.

Thats curious! Mine are the akkon version but they look very similar to alpharex. Ill have to take a look at how I positioned them today! Thanks for the info.

Just changed the angles of the bulbs to 12 ans 6 instead of 9 and 3

No improvement on output. They are being returned.

Alright.

Changed the position and output is still crap.
Before I return them and go with stock projectors I'll try hids.

Maybe I was just spoiled with quads and leds lol

This are the ones I was thinking of getting, but if light bout codes are going to be there and don't bgo away with alfaOBD them I'll just keep the stock ones.
