This morning around 0530, my panic alarm started going off. I grabbed my .40 off the night stand and went outside. Found nothing. I don't think anyone was messing with it however, the alarm has never randomly gone off. Any thoughts as to what may have caused this?
Thanks

raccoon, big dog, drunk kids, a car moving at such a high speed with enough turbulence to cause your shake sensor to go off. Electrical short in the system! In all seriousness, probably someone bumped it or tried to break into it, I know with aftermarkets atleast and I'm assuming its going to be relatively the same with the factory system that there is a shock (shake is probably a more accurate word) sensor, kinda like pinball machines, jostle it too much and it goes off. I suppose it could be an electrical problem but I doubt it.

You say 'Panic Alarm'. Do you mean Burglary Alarm?

As a former Cop, people confuse and mix up the terms Burglary, Robbery or Panic Alarm all the time. But, they are very different things (to those in the business).

I'm not trying to school you on all that crap, but it makes me wonder; Where was your key fob? Any chance you, your pet or other family member rolled over on it, pushed the "panic" button or something like that from inside the house and set it off?

Just 'cause I brought it up, Burglary is breaking into something... house, car, etc. Robbery is taking from a person with force. Burglary Alarms are generally set off by the security system, or bad code. Robbery Alarms are manually pressed or triggered with a code or button. Panic Alarms are definitely designed to be manually activated, though malfunctions in all those cases do happen.

So, long story short, a Burglary Alarm would have triggered with someone Phocking with the truck. The Panic Alarm would trigger with your key fob.

Maybe the cat stepped on it?

Is this the OE security system? Cause I'm pretty sure mine doesn't have a sensor for vibrations. I think it only goes off if you try and open the door. As mentioned above, do you have pets or kids that might have hit the keyfob?

Okay, I don't have an alarm installed. I say panic alarm because it was the same beep beep beep with flashing lights, that you get when you push the red button on the fob. One key was in a bowl on the kitchen table and the other put away in a drawer. I've pulled the door handle with it locked before but never got the beeps. There was no sign of tampering or attempted break in. I don't think that would be the case anyway because I live in a newer neighborhood and know most of my neighbors. I think the oldest kids here are early/pre-teens, and their parents would beat that a** if they thought they were messing with peoples property. So again, I don't think it was a person. Also I've shook the truck, dropped the tailgate plenty of times without anything going off. I suppose it was just a random occurrence.

Pet step on key? I set mine off hitting it on armrests when it is in my pocket. And had my dog and cat both step on it in the night if I leave my pants on the floor.
