I just got a used 2018 7inch premium gauge cluster and I am not having any luck changing the mileage and idle hours through Alfa obd.

So I bought Alfa through windows and everything and I’m using the Mx+ scanner but every time I try and change the mileage it makes me reconnect to the Mx+ and after I do the key cycle then it says failed. I’m not able to find anything on this particular problem. I have the Mx+ updated to the newest firmware too
Any help would be appreciated

I figured it out. I stumbled upon an article that says I need a obd security bypass cable on Amazon for like 20$ so we’ll see when it comes in

Don't waste your money on the cheap 12+8 unit on Amazon unless you know your security gateway module is easily accessible.

Some of the 5th gen trucks have the security gateway module beside/behind the OBD2 connector.

My '21 Warlock has is buried behind the radio.

The easiest solution is to not connect directly to the module but to the CAN bus system instead using a KaodTech Security Bypass harness.

It takes about 3 minutes to install if you take your time.

https://kaodtech.com

Install it once and forget it. It leaves the OBD2 available and doesn't have to be removed between uses.

I keep mine coiled and tucked up behind the OBD2 port.

And, welcome to Ram Forum.

Thanks man I have already got it. Being a 2018 it is right under the dash by the steering column but that is good info I appreciate it
