or is it just trial and error?
That's what I don't do, so a complete manual would be cool indeed. Seeing as there are a thousand things to do in there.

No manual that I could find when I did my Keyless Enter-N-Go mod, but here are some of the resources I found/used:

AlfaOBD 101 video
AlfaOBD Known Working Settings (Goggle Docs)
Main AlfaOBD Thread (1,383 pages as of now!)

Absolutely DO NOT start randomly changing settings, whatever you do! The tool works with a number of vehicles and does not filter out options for them - it's not hard to find posts here where folks bricked their truck "by accident," requiring a tow to the dealer to have it fla$hed back to factory settings.

Unfortunately, there's no other option but to wade in and educate yourself, sorry!

It really seems results with AlfaOBD can be hit and miss depending on the vehicle.

I've not done any mods to my RAM with AlfaOBD but I have to my wife's '14 Chrysler 300. I added a factory backup camera by just replacing the 3rd brake light assy, installing the camera, and using AlfaOBD to activate it.
There were 2 things I needed to get working. One was the video from the camera showing up when you put the car in reverse, the 2nd was the active guide lines when you turn the wheel the lines would curve. I got the video from the camera working first try. But after trying several times and following the instructions to the letter I was given I could never get the active guide lines to work. Maybe the instructions were not correct for that part but everyone said " It worked for me" .

But had to call it a win. Saved a good bit of money considering alternative methods of getting a backup camera installed.

Agreed with everyone's responses. No manual sadly but it really wouldn't be easy to create one. There are a lot of functions that are buggy and require messing with to make them actually work.

Couple bits of advise though

Before you change anything, make sure you make a backup log and open it in google drive to make sure all the BCM settings are actually there. I have had blank logs get uploaded to google drive before. Having a backup will save you butt if you mess something up. It happens, I have messed up a few things myself.

Read the Alfa OBD thread or do a forum search before changing any settings. A lot of what you are looking for has already been tested by the members here.

If you don't know what it does, don't change it.
