A DRL question, or two actually:

1> If you have the dealer activate the DRL function on a US truck, which lights are used? (low beam, marker, fog, etc)

2> For those who have turned them on yourself with the AE or AlphaODB tools, which lights did you use? (I know which ones can be used, just curious as to which ones people are using.)

-K

1> For quads I believe it is high beam with low power setting. And projectors it is the turn signal?

2> I have quads and used my turn signals. I have since disabled them though because I was getting a canbus error with my switchbaks. Still working on that isesue.

Unrelated, I am still working on getting my PIN from a dealer. I had a bit of an emergency situation over the weekend which forced me to move into a new house so I have been a bit swamped. I haven't forgotten about the TPMS stuff though.

I used low beams with the Alfa software. Dealer could not activate although alpha worked great.

I am using the turn signal LED strips on my Laramie. I like the way the LEDs look but it's nice having the option to change the location.

Any folks in Canada have an OBDLink MX or SX they could lend me? Or anyone in the GTA wanna meet up?

I'll be using a PC. Is there any reason to not get the OBDLink SX vs the MX. I'll only need USB. I can get the SX for like $30 on Amazon.
The OBDlink MX is recommended (faster device) on the AlfaOBD site. but they do list the SX on the compatible list.
I personally didn't like dealing with the USB cable on the AutoEnginuity OBD interface and would highly recommended the MX BT especially if your PC/laptop has Bluetooth (and get a USB BT 4.0 adapter for the PC if it doesn't). Plus the MX BT can also be used with an Android phone/tablet/Kindle fire.

Have you ever connected to the climate seat control module? (aka heated seat module)

If so, are there actually data points you can monitor, like the sensed seat temperature, the amount of current/voltage going to the heating pads, etc?

If you can't find any used/open box, you can subscribe to their newsletter and receive 10% off on your first order as well. Like Mpgrimm2 stated, fumbling with cords as many times as you'll be disconnecting would make it kind of cumbersome.

However, if you do go that route, be sure to report back to let us know how it goes. Thanks!

I haven't done much testing with the AlfaOBD like ghost_ram Ricks_Ram & DeereGuy have (been busy with orders). They may be able to give insight.

To my knowledge no one has completely set the heated/vented seat with only Alfa. I'm totally willing to test, maybe a fund can be setup to purchase me a set? Lol

As far as monitoring data, I haven't heard anyone doing so but if someone has hopefully they will step forward.

Actually its a little bit unrelated to getting the seats to work...was curious if there is a way to find out what is happening with @firemedic10584 's heated seat issue. Granted, he is in lemon law right now, but my curiosity is piqued - the system is shutting down for some reason, and there arent many reasons why it would, so could we actually read the data from the heated seat module and determine why its shutting down, and presumably that would point at what needed fixing.

First, I don't trust dealerships as far as I can throw them. Second, not sure what steps have been taken as I am unfamiliar with the story. I'm not really sure if the program can do anything in this regard. Have you tried connecting?

Oh I dont trust them either :) the thread is on here and is very long and drawn out and full of "dealers lack common sense" bs.

Anyway...I did try to connect but the app yells at me because I dont have the genuine MX adapter. It tells me I can connect only if I buy/build a harness that has certain pins rearranged compared to the standard ODB connector pinout. Nor do I have actual heated seats (although Id guess connecting to the module would at least allow me to see the possible data points, if any exist)

Ah gotcha. I just searched it out and found his story. Looking through it now.

I can't look at anything either as I have an Express with manual cloth seats. However, there are a few members with the program. Maybe someone can test.

And there we go, thanks STecoD. I definitely shows more information than I thought it would. Gives me more to play with when I get mine installed.

@STecoD - that was HUGE, thanks!

So, we really could figure out what is tripping the seats off early. So could the dealer. I wonder if they ever really tried.

You never know what tools they actually have available to them. I do know the module is like $70 from an online retailer so if they haven’t tried to replace that they are wasting his time.
