Hi all,

I’ve installed the OEM brake controller 82215040AB on my 2016 Ram 1500 Limited Diesel.

I enabled all four options as described in post 1 in this thread.

Trailer select csm
Select “yes”
Trailer name csm
Select “yes”
Trailer type csm
Select “yes”
ITBM/HWM integrated trailer brake module Select “enable”

The trailer brake shows up in the 8.4 radio screen settings menu as well as the instrument cluster. However I cannot adjust the gain or use the manual engagement. I get this message on my instrument cluster “Trailer Brake Not Connected”

Can anyone shed some light on this issue?

I'll bet this might sound really stupid and I might get laughed at but wtf, here goes..................

Are you hooked up to the trailer and still getting the message?

But shouldn’t I be able to use the gain settings?

Yes you should be able to adjust the gains without a trailer attached

It may just take some time a couple of key cycles, a short drive for the truck to recognize the module

Ok. I’ll keep using the vehicle and see what happens.

Did you install the brake controller panel and module or just the panel

The dash switch is installed and plug in.

The bracket and module is also installed and plugged in.

OK. Take it for a drive and Let it sit over night. These trucks can have a mind of their own sometimes when it comes to adding thing's.

Just for reference, the vents under the jump seat(center console) in my truck blow with the dash vents and the vents under the seats blow with floor vents.
Good to know that makes me curious I think I have only tried them with the floor vents lol. I will try that in the morning.

I tried a bunch of different configurations with the lock button but nothing worked. I would assume it would’ve been a lock then press and hold.

for this have you tried hitting lock button six times?

I attached an image from the tazer RAM user guide found here: https://zautomotive.com/zpu/instructions/tazer_RAM_user_guide_12.0.0.pdf

I'm not by my truck currently so I cannot test.

Will do so later and report back if no one else has.

Just tried this on it did not work on my 2015 2500 Laramie

I’m assuming you do have global up set via alpha? Not trying to be rude, just confirming.

No worries, now I have to check, when I first did it, I thought I set both. Standby!

This only works with the Tazer module. It has to be plugged in all the time for this to function.
Oh ok. Thanks. Oh well was worth a shot. I figured that being how the down was the same key sequence, the up might work.

Well, it wasn't set. Disregard. I set it now and gotta let the truck take a nap or two.
