Looking for information where to buy one from a reputable source I'm looking to put an interior in my 5th gen 2021 2500 out of a 2020 Laramie just wondering how difficult how to navigate one once I get the programmer any help would be appreciated

There are a number of threads on this AlohaOBD subject, you should search the term in both 4th grn and 5th gen threads.

And don't change a thing until you save all your settings. Each truck can be different with factory settings so don't expect someone can get you back to stock if you don't first run all codes as they exist.

This is a Security Gateway bypass harness required for 2018+ vehicles.

Some users prefer the Android version of AlfaOBD, and others like me use the windoze version.

Then you will require an OBD2 port interface. The OBDLink Mx+ is a popular Bluetooth version that can be used with Android or windoze. I prefer a USB-A interface to use with a windoze laptop.

Right I understand that but exactly what is blocked because my buddy doesn't have any bypass and he can read codes with his even though the alfaodb page states "Starting from the model year 2018 (2017 Fiat 500L) Stellantis (FCA) installs the Security Gateway Module (SGW) blocking third-party diagnostics. AlfaOBD has no software solution yet. As a workaround please use a hardware SGW bypass module."

Are there specific diagnostics it won't do?

Yes - quite a bit it won't do without the bypass

You may be able to see several items, including DTCs, but to make and save changes to various modules, the security gateway bypass harness is required for all 2018+ vehicles.
