I'm looking into purchasing the alpha obd. Which OBD plugin in best for Rams? Also I saw something about an adapter for 2018 on the website. Is that for all 2018+ models? I currently have a 2019 classic and my wife has a 2016. Looking mainly to be able to read and clear diagnostic codes and upgrade lighting.

You'll need a security bypass cable for the 2019 classic you can get it from and the obdlink mx bluetooth obd2 reader you can get through Amazon

Thanks guys. last question regarding the bypass cable. I have one for my Superchip flashcal that looks like the one in the above thread. Since it plugs into the same connectors would it function the same or is the alpha odb program specific?

It may work. The bypass cable isn't Alfa specific. It just makes the tool capable of communicating with the BCM. If you already have an adapter that looks similar you may not need to buy another one. Give it a try and see. If it's wrong you will know right away because you won't be able to connect to your truck.

Yes. 18+ requires a security bypass cable

I can connect with Alpha and security bypass on my 2018 Ram, but it won’t let me change the vin write, mileage, etc. Have spent a lot of time the past few weeks trying to update premium cluster , and every time, it kicks me off , disconnects Bluetooth on Samsung tablet, and grays out the connect red button. Guess I’ll have to send cluster off to get mileage changed. Was able to disable seat belt chimes and that’s about it. I’m doing this in the drive way, using my WiFi from the house and using a 2016 Samsung Tab A tablet.

Does anyone know if it's ok to leave the obd plugged in, or should I only plug it in when in use?

Hey guys just wondering, I want to put LEDs for the dome light and map lights. They don't come on sometimes. I heard you will need resistors for them to work. Does the alfa obd enable using LEDs for interior lights. Thanks

I got mine off Amazon. I got a couple of different brands. SIRIUS LEDs and another type can't think of the name off the top of my head. I will try the ones you have and see what happens. Thanks buddy
