Here is a capacitor roll off chart , looking like 47mf cap would work nice for 3.5" and a 3.3mf cap for tweeters

That's a handy chart for passive crossovers. The resistance for dB cuts is a circuit generally called an L-pad attenuation circuit it doesn't effect signal just lowers the power to reduce volume when multiple speakers are on the same channel and some are too loud such as door speakers and dash speakers in the ram trucks. More complicated to explain then I care too, but there are a lot of electronic sites with explanations and calculators to build them.

I feel the same way. I've built them in the past when I was on a budget and wanted my mids and highs louder. Had 2 60X2 amps and rather than run 60X4 I bridged both amps to 240W mono and ran 1 for the left and one for the right and put L-pads on the rear speakers to cut them down. It took me a couple tries to get it right and somebody smarter than me to calculate and draw me a diagram that I used to build them, but they worked well in the end and I got double the power to my mids without buying new amps. Now I just run more channels and bigger to start with.

3032cf is 2ohm but see now replaced with new model. The jbl gx302 is 2.3 ohm

IMG_20180412_024000.jpg I was reading on another forum someone tested the 3022cfx and tested at 2 ohm. I have the 3022cfx in each corner and the jbl gx302, I know for sure this setup sounds excellent.

I searched for the threads to add my question to it, but couldn't seem to find it. Mods, if you want to add this to one of them, please do.

2014 Big Horn w/ OEM Alpine stereo.

I currently have 2 sets of speaker upgrades on my Amazon wish list. The Mopar Kicker upgrades, and the Infinity Reference Series. From what I read, people seem to lean toward the Infinity's, but many have been happy with the Kicker's also. Originally, I was full on Kicker, as they are local to me and I like to support local. but I think I'm starting to sway more toward the Infinity's, just from reading on here, and then looking at the prices, I think I can save a little bit of money (with current Amazon prices - about $50).

I know sound is all relative to each individual person, but what is the consensus between the 2?

Secondly, for those with the Alpine system... when replacing the dash speakers, is it really necessary to replace all 3? Or, would the 2 outside/corner speakers overpower the center dash speaker and make it unnecessary to swap out the center speaker? Looking at these: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01E4JW...olid=3U0Y0WYHTRCZG&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

I think I will start with the dash, then go to the doors. I know I'd like to replace the front doors, as I'm already developing a rattle in the passenger side door whenever the bass hits that speaker. I do not want to add an amp, or get into too much audio stuff. Just wanting to do a direct swap of the speakers on an extremely tight budget.
If you simply change out to the better speakers, e.g., the Alpines, for example, won't you also have to change out the amplifier, etc..?

I notice most people use the kicker speakers in the non alpine system, for the alpine system since ohms are different people use jbl or infinity. I tested my oem alpine 3.5 speaker and was 2.3 ohms, same as the jbl gx302. I tested them on a meter and both were identical ohms. Now I am thinking of trying the gx302 in each corner and infinity 3022cfx in center, is easy swap to see if any different, but sounds so good now, may skip it. Thinking of 2 ohm Gto 20m 2inch drivers in the roof, but waiting on a deal, they are $119 now. I will be keeping factory amp for rest.

No, changing out speakers doesn't require new amp. Just don't put any speaker in or may not get as loud, I hear all the time people say, sounds so much better, but not as loud as before. So reason I push the jbl gx302 up front or infinity 3022cfx is they get a lot louder, clearer and really are good price. Makes a huge difference just the 3 in dash. I always had full aftermarket in my cars, this alpine system with front dash and rear door speakers replaced sounds very good, stock I was not liking the muted highs. Is getting hard to find 2ohm speakers now and the jbl gx302 is closest you will get and is same ohm as stock. Rear doors are 2 ohm and jbl and infinity make a 2 ohm 6x9 I am pretty sure.

There are two higher level models of this amp (AP and LX) but this is the best value if you’re not really into car audio as a hobby or competing in SQ contests.

You ever ran a zapco? I have heard of them, they are suppose to be good. But i have never tried one.

I ran a Z-150.6 for about a year along with a Z-1KD for my sub. I’ve since upgraded again. I’m actually sitting on a Z-400.2 LX right now that I’m considering replacing the Z-1KD with.

They are solid amps and I wouldn’t hesitate to use them.
