If you simply change out to the better speakers, e.g., the Alpines, for example, won't you also have to change out the amplifier, etc..?I searched for the threads to add my question to it, but couldn't seem to find it. Mods, if you want to add this to one of them, please do.
2014 Big Horn w/ OEM Alpine stereo.
I currently have 2 sets of speaker upgrades on my Amazon wish list. The Mopar Kicker upgrades, and the Infinity Reference Series. From what I read, people seem to lean toward the Infinity's, but many have been happy with the Kicker's also. Originally, I was full on Kicker, as they are local to me and I like to support local. but I think I'm starting to sway more toward the Infinity's, just from reading on here, and then looking at the prices, I think I can save a little bit of money (with current Amazon prices - about $50).
I know sound is all relative to each individual person, but what is the consensus between the 2?
Secondly, for those with the Alpine system... when replacing the dash speakers, is it really necessary to replace all 3? Or, would the 2 outside/corner speakers overpower the center dash speaker and make it unnecessary to swap out the center speaker? Looking at these: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01E4JW...olid=3U0Y0WYHTRCZG&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it
I think I will start with the dash, then go to the doors. I know I'd like to replace the front doors, as I'm already developing a rattle in the passenger side door whenever the bass hits that speaker. I do not want to add an amp, or get into too much audio stuff. Just wanting to do a direct swap of the speakers on an extremely tight budget.
Who makes a 6 channel amp???Yikes, that stuff is above my pay grade
just ran in this doing some research on how to use an 4 channel amp on six channels
ended up going with a six channel amp![]()
Who makes a 6 channel amp???
No, changing out speakers doesn't require new amp. Just don't put any speaker in or may not get as loud, I hear all the time people say, sounds so much better, but not as loud as before. So reason I push the jbl gx302 up front or infinity 3022cfx is they get a lot louder, clearer and really are good price. Makes a huge difference just the 3 in dash. I always had full aftermarket in my cars, this alpine system with front dash and rear door speakers replaced sounds very good, stock I was not liking the muted highs. Is getting hard to find 2ohm speakers now and the jbl gx302 is closest you will get and is same ohm as stock. Rear doors are 2 ohm and jbl and infinity make a 2 ohm 6x9 I am pretty sure.If you simply change out to the better speakers, e.g., the Alpines, for example, won't you also have to change out the amplifier, etc..?
That's similar to the one I'm running. The XD8008, which can be used as an 8,6 or 4 channel depending what you want to do with it. I'm running it as a 6There's several, here's one for example

Yeah that is convenient, but my components require 150 rms. Would be nice if they made a stronger 6 channel amp. There's several, here's one for example

That zapco is a beast!
There are two higher level models of this amp (AP and LX) but this is the best value if you’re not really into car audio as a hobby or competing in SQ contests.
You ever ran a zapco? I have heard of them, they are suppose to be good. But i have never tried one.
Thanks ill check them out if my kicker ***** the bed.I ran a Z-150.6 for about a year along with a Z-1KD for my sub. I’ve since upgraded again. I’m actually sitting on a Z-400.2 LX right now that I’m considering replacing the Z-1KD with.
They are solid amps and I wouldn’t hesitate to use them.
