I have the Alpine setups with that useless sub. I plan on getting a box, and a amp to replace. So my question is, do I need to run speaker wire or when I disconnect that 'alpine' sub I can tap into that wire, thus only requiring me to run 12v from the battery..

Or the Kicker Soundstage?

Summoning device like a DSP and then you have a starting point without that there really aren't any options unless kicker has gotten to get that soundstage to work with the alpine system but I believe they have not at this time.

i had success in doing this in my '11 durango that i had. i used the factory alpine sub signal to feed a basic cheap LOC.

if your doing just a sub you DONT need a dsp or summing device as you dont care about the full range sound.

I should be a little more clear from where I am coming from. There have been a bunch of folks on here that for some reason can't get it to work and I should say if I was to mess with the alpine system I would go the route of gutting it. baum I believe is an installer so if he says it will work I would be very inclined to believe him.

Thanks,

i was for about 15 years but stepped away from the daily business a few years back and just do it as a hobby now.

The problem with the alpine is its a digital signal from the head unit to the amp. in order to get any signal to an aftermarket amp you must get the signal after the alpine amp.

i personally have had great luck with using the 6x9 signal from the front doors as my full range signal and using the factory sub as my signal for my sub. I was able to do it with just using a 4-channel LOC and no DSP/summing unit.
