Am I crazy for considering this?

I would think that as long as it was serviced on time and properly maintained, 54k on a 6.4 would be fine. I haven't owned one though, so take it with a grain of salt.

I wouldn't be concerned with a 7 year old truck that was seeing 18k miles a year. My prior 3500 was 3 years old when I bought it and it had 98k miles on the ticker. :) Dedicated gooseneck hauler, but pristine condition. To this day I still regret ever selling that truck. I WOULD ask them why the CEL is on though.... I would also ask if the 8.4 UConnect screen has been replaced. 2018 is the year that the radios had problems with screen delamination. Neither would sway my decision if the CEL issue is resolved and the truck fit my needs.

127k is what the truck in my sig has now. Engine wise, that is almost perfectly broken in IMO. However, emissions should be a concern around that mileage. If you use it primarily for towing, then you may be ok for a while longer but if it's a daily driver with occasional tow use you can expect it to hit the fan sooner than later. There are cost effective methods to remedy that, but it depends on your comfort level. I bought this truck out of Woodstock, GA. That dealer primarily sells diesels and they had a few that had already been "fixed" if you're looking for that. Totally up to you and I won't steer you one way or another.

I'm with you on the emission concern. I hope that the CEL is not related to DPF being full. I read that we have a way with Alfa OBD to do Stationary forced regens, but we will see what happens tomorrow. the dealer in woodstock that you got your truck from, was it Fairground Auto?

You'll typically get a service DPF warning in the EVIC. Different than the CEL. Not saying it may not be emissions related, but thinking it's likely something else.

No, it was All-Terrain Motorsports. Kinda threw me off with the name, but they have more trucks than side by sides, etc..

They actually have 15 Rams there now. I just glanced at 2 that were already done. https://www.allterrainms.com/

A diesel with highway miles is a lot better than driven short distances ..for 7yrs. Probably a lot fewer heat/cool cycles. Could be fairly clean inside it. I'd give the diesel a good strong look. If interested, work it out so the dealer resolves the CEL. ...for like 3 or 6months.

Good luck!

Going to the dealer tomorrow to see the truck. Will keep that in mind. Thank you

Couldn't get the CEL description. When i go ta chance to connect my OBD the CEL was already cleared and all I was able to piece together from the conversation with service manager was that the CEL was cleared when the batteries were replaced and the OBD confirmed that time frame.

My only concern is that the CEL might have been emissions related, but I have already made the commitment that if indeed that is the case, the truck will be going on a diet (and I will be hitting you up on Pm's nlambert182:))
