I had the AMP power boards installed today and I really like them:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jb--a0yJglQ

Bought the truck new on 5 September 2016 and had the Amp Power Steps put on 7 days later. I love them but even more important, my spouse loves them. I had to put something on there so she'd quit complaining she couldn't get in the truck. I kept telling her its them short legs.

Anyway, they were expensive and it took the installer 6 hours to install as there seems to be a major install hurdle on the 2016 1500. Anyway, they're on and doing wonderful.

Of course I told my wife I was buying them to make it easier for her to get in, and that's partially true, but I wanted them for a cleaner look over the bars I had on my F-150.

There was a crash bracket in the way on some 2016 1500s. AMP changed their mounting bracket to accommodate in the April-May time frame this year. My 2016 did not have the bracket.

I had mine professionally installed by someone that's been installing them for years. Only took 2-3 hours, but he did take a number of "short cuts". Says he never has had a problem. He didn't bother with the pop rivets (says they rust out after 2-3 New England winters anyway). Instead of fiddling with seam interference, he just added stop blocks to keep the steps from fully retracting. One support bracket hole did not line up, so he just didn't install the screw. He was reluctant to drill any holes due to the corrosion possibilities. He only put one LED step light on. He cut the steps longer to better match the cab lines, but then had to modify the little fender protector to clear ..... he threw away all the left over parts....

I mentioned this to AMP tech support but they didn't seem concerned. This chain store price was $200 less than others but, if you don't like short cuts, ask some questions of the installer.

I do like them. Wonder how they will work with ice and snow caked on them.

I paid $1470 for the steps with installation.

Installed mine myself on my 14 Quad Cab. Took about 4 hrs start to finush. I installed all the bolts and rivits plus both the LED lights on both sides. They interfered with the cab seem on the passenger side aittle but we were able to get them to clear by bouncing up and down on them with increasing force untill they cleared. Been on for almost a year and I love em.

I just had a set delivered last week for my '16 2500 and debating on whether or not to install myself. How much did you guys pay to have your Powersteps installed? I have the plug & play version which is supposed to be a little easier.

From what I have seen I think the going rate is around 200 to 250 dollars. These are not hard to install just time consuming. The plug and play version is what I installed as well. I used an angle head drill to drill the holes for the pop rivit which made the job much easier.

The install price, as usual, is different when you purchased the steps where you are getting them installed. Seems that AMP has some control over the selling price, but dealers can fiddle with install rates. I've seen $400-$500 in this area for installation. They usually charge 5 hours labor at whatever the going rate of the shop.

One of the main points of the PowerSteps is to have the fully retract and not visible when not in use. Proper touchup painting techniques that a professional would use address the rust concerns.

I'm one of those that doesn't like short cuts, installed mine by myself on my 2015 1/2, it had the new bracket.

I've been wanting a set of these, but they're so damn expensive.

The mopar catalogue lists these at $2400 CDN if I remember correctly.

Love my Amp steps. Have had mine since May and don't think I'll ever own another truck without them.

$1219.xx on amazon

Thanks, I just went over there to take a look.
It's a bit cheaper on Amazon but still pricey.

$1,808 and change CDN, plus shipping and taxes.
Then install costs.
Probably a couple hundred cheaper than the dealer at the end of the day.

Yikes - called a local shop today and they said 4-6 hours at $115/hr. I'm going to see if there are any other places that might be cheaper, otherwise I may attempt the install myself.

I just installed them on 2016 1500 - it was a bit difficult I felt, but I don't have a lift so did it laying on my back. Took me 8 hours + over a couple days. If an experienced pro who had installed these before would have done it for $250 - I would gladly pay.

Now that they are installed - they are great and work perfectly.

Yikes 8 hours? That doesn't get me excited for installing mine! Mine are the plug and play, so hopefully that cuts back on the install time.

Mine for my 2016 were 1707 plus taxes, with free shipping. I was $1930 all in. I'm hoping FCA will help with with the running boards rebate, but I doubt it.
