AMP power steps?

Is it possible to have the steps stay down in a parking lot to prevent door dings?

I'm trying to decide on steps. Not happy with the other mounting systems. Plus it seems they are a lower step making it easier for family to enter, and exit.

Not cheap but a retractable running board might be more practical.

Yes. The AMP's do this. When you shut the door, just leave your foot on it with a bit of pressure. It's a safety feature. Also this is how I pressure wash them.

They operate the other way as well. If your up against a curb or high hard snow bank. They won't fully extend.

Cool, but how do you keep both sides down @ the same time?

I would get some trim strips, those will be too low for most doors. My tubes are useless at preventing dings, In often gauge it and most SUVs can hit the door if the person isn't careful.

Easy. Open either of the passenger doors and do the same thing.

Each side is independent. It's not like you open 1 door and both sides go down.

Each side is wired to it's own. If you get a chance to look how they tap into the wiring, you'll see that each motor is tapped to each side. Youtube an AMP install. You'll get it.

There's also little LED lights as well. They go out just like the puddle lights on the mirrors. Actually quicker.

I would have to agree. The AMP's go down about 6". You might not gain much for body protection if that's your main objective.

If your really lifted, I believe there is a 2" extension kit available for them as well.

I didn't need or want them, but I'm not the only one getting in. Now that I have them, I really like them. I hated the way nerf bars caught all the snow and crap and dumped it on my garage floor when I had the Hummer.

Also cut down on the ground clearance.

I'm only lifted with 5100's maxed and a Zone 1.5 BL. I have been thinking about body side molding, but I have to outweigh protection vs a clean look.

Amps will come in time, I just spent close to 5k in mods. So the Amps might be on hold for a bit, But man do I want them

You can get the trim painted to match, makes it looks a little cleaner but is more expensive. I paid 180 bucks for the wife's Rav 4 color matched from Toyo. Check with Ram and see what is available. Once you get your first ding, forget about it because after all it is a truck.

You'd probably save more money having a respectable body shop color match it. The dealers charge tons of labor.

I put them on myself, they just have a adhesive strip and if it is a factory color you can order from parts department pretty cheaply.

My pocket flares are in the paint shop now, quoted 300-350. But their work is top notch. Already have a couple scratches and dings, but from using the truck as a truck. If I do them oh well but when someone else does, it ****** me off!
