Lots of options out there, and the opinions on this is much greater. Here's mine...any filter with synthetic media will work well if you plan to push your OCI's to 10k miles. I go with Royal Purple filters. For shorter OCI's you can't go wrong with OEM filters. Also, WIX and NAPA Gold filters work well. There are others of course, but these are what I have experience with using.

Look up oil filter thread, as it turns out amsoil ea/royal purple are clones of each other and are the best you can get anywhere. They have stayed true to form when other options went away from their designs, who knows better or worse? But amsoil ea or royal purple 20-820 is the way to go. The ram calls for rp10-48, that is the smaller filter, the larger 20-820 will fit. lots of cool inof in that oil filter thread.

I run Amsoil in my truck and car with SRT filters. I paid to be an Amsoil preferred member so I can order the oil for a cheaper price. If I order oil for both cars I hit that $100 mark for free shipping

Amsoil gets lots of me money, as well. Not so much for diesel oil, but for all my other fluids and oils. HotShot gets some as well.

Some ram forum members reported srt filter were now paper or might be paper I forget, it is in the end of the oil filter thread with cutaways and more info. Here is the report and page, srt is paper and that means it is less then any synthetic media just fyi.

wix xp/ napa platinum clones great choice for sure right up there with amsoil/rp, the difference is wix is tighter thinner media and rp is thicker looser media, I think either has strong characteristics. Fram Ultra has chnaged as well, they were top choice, still might be, but I'd research that before chosing it. I think puro boss is the outliar, there redesign is definitely an upgrade. There are a lot of choices if you want synthetic media, I see no reason for paper anymore, when the paper stiffens you are simply in bypass, as in no filtration. You see paper filters under bypass, the media is all squished when you cut them open, that is vacuum that set filter into bypass, it is dangerous for lubrication plus for 1,000's of miles does not filter at all. I'm gonna use a bad word, stupid, it is stupid to use paper, there I said it. At a minimum use a blend, there are many blended filters like m1, at least use a blend instead of paper.

Read the oil filter thread . Dam that was a long thread . However good info I'm thinking that the 20-500 will be my choice of filter . Now I got all this redline info in my head and back on the fence on which oil to use .HA well I got another 800 miles to think about it. 1000 is my break in oil change mark . Thanks for all the input .

For my filter, Advance auto $20, amazon $10.

I tried my first RP 20-500 last fall. It fit great, but then again I have a 6.4L Hemi in the heavy duty frame. The oil filter fitting points sideways forward. Crazy setup. No room for bigger diameter - interferes with lower rad hose.

I saw an interesting feature on Motortrend's Engine Masters where they dyno tested a number of the most used filters in racing/custom builds, etc. I don't immediately recall the details and results but I'm sure you can find the episode on Youtube...
