2018 Ram1500. I had some damage on left rear qtr so had to repair and replace tail lamp assembly. Now I get the parking light out message when I hit the brake or turn on left signal. This only occurs when the headlights are turned on (manually or in auto mode). I replaced the socket again to no avail. The odd thing is that the 3157 bulb is obviously dual element. The tail lamp element should stay illuminated when when the signal is on just like the other side, but doesn’t . The elements now alternate when the signal is on, but the tail lamp stays illuminated when signal is off. Has anyone figured out this parking light out message ??!?

OK some basic questions; my apologies if they seem rather simplistic.

1. The 3157 lamps you’re using are halogen, not LED, correct?
2. You’ve tried more than one 3157 lamp in the new socket just to make sure you don’t have a funky lamp?
3. Have you taken a multimeter and checked to make sure the ground in that socket is good? (Check continuity between C1, pin 3 and C2, pin 2 to frame ground).

Another thing I would try with a multimeter is to remove the lamp, turn the headlights on and check to make sure that one pin of that socket (C1, pin 2) shows 12 V all the time for the running light.

The other test, and you’ll need a helper for this one, is to check the other lamp socket pin voltage to make sure you get 12 V when the brake pedal is depressed and it goes away when the brake pedal is not pressed (C1, pin 1).

You can then test the turn signal circuit in the same manner...
