So I just upgraded my head unit from the 5.0 to the 8.4 thanks to cgeorgemo and his helpful threads. Anyhow, I would like to add a front cam. I'm well aware of the lock pick and rax jailbreak solutions but the price tags are high just to add a front camera to a factory head unit that is ready for multiple video lines. So my question is does anyone have any solutions to this ? If not I would rather put aftermarket rear mirror with an lcd screen and wire a switch for the front cam. Thanks guys !

it sounds like you are aware of the only two methods out there to currently do it.

but since you did a swap and its not factory installed i dont think a jailbreak will work on yours so you may be stuck with the lock pic.

Depends on what he wants the cam for, if it's pulling into parking stalls or a garage then a dash cam won't do any good.

I went the Lockpic route, easy install with exception that my instruction sheet was wrong in that you do not access the initial programing through the steering wheel arrow buttons

I was lucky back in the spring when no inventory existed in the US that 12 Volt Solutions had just 1 kicking around

It was obviously old stock and hence was not updated

I spent a lot of time on the phone with 12 Volt and C/S in Florida before Carlos finally twigged onto this and told me I had to start initial set up using the BACK button on the radio and not the steering wheel buttons

Then it was of course easy but until then !!!!!! Maddening as Carlos and 12 volt were treating me like some sort of idiot, Carlos was downright rude

Anyway it works well now and kicks the front camera in @ 5 mphi

A dash cam isnt what I was looking for. I'm looking for a parking/rock cam. I would like to see what's in front of me.
As far as the lock pick goes do you have to use the manual back button on the dash bezel to install? I do not have the button
