I was in the hospital for 3 days last week and during that time we had storms with high winds. When I returned home and tried starting my truck it didn't recognize my key fob and was in anti-theft mode. I had it towed to the dealership and they told me that it would cost over $2k dollars to have the repairs made, (rf module replaced, rear glass replaced, 3rd brake light replaced, and both keys re-programmed) even though I should have been covered under the XG1 warranty extension for 10yrs and 150k miles.

I contacted Stellantis Customer Care and was told to have the dealership submit a "repair cost assistance for out of warranty work." If it works like the Stellantis rep said, "Stellantis will cover the bulk of the repair and I'll pay the rest." I'm hoping that it's 25% or less, but we'll see. It sucks not to have my truck but once its fixed I can continue doing my deliveries with it.

Has anyone else here had issues with getting the 3rd brake light replaced under the XG1 warranty extension?

First, I'm glad you're out of the hospital. I hope it was nothing too serious.

I had my 3rd brake light replaced under the 3/36 warranty, along with the rear window. Fortunately for me it started leaking about two months before the original warranty expired. But unless you have the digital rear view mirror, which also comes with the LED 3rd brake light and integrated camera, the standard 3rd brake light costs less than $50 shipped and is simple to install. Since the digital rear view mirror wasn't available for 2019 or 2020 model years I'm assuming you have the standard 3rd brake light.

The most expensive part of that two grand is for the rear window replacement. When the warranty extension first came out it was for replacement of the rear window (XL1). After a few months it was amended to only cover sealing of the original rear window with flowable sealant (Revised XL1). I wouldn't hold out a lot of hope that Stellantis will cover much of this but I hope I'm wrong about that. Having gone through what you're now going through (minus the hospital stay), I get angry every time I read about another person experiencing the rear window issues that have plagued 5th gen 1500's.

Here's a thread which contains the two original TSB's for cab leaks, including the revised XL1 I mentioned above, in case you wanted some light reading lol.

We can check to see if this warranty applies to your vehicle. At any time DM us with your VIN and mileage for support.

Chris, thanks for the information on the brake light. Stellantis is paying about $400 of the repair and I'm covering the rest. I figure anything towards the repair cost is good.

I have a small crack in the windshield that I've been living with for the past 2 yrs so I decided to replace the windshield while it's in the shop.

I didn't realize how much I liked my truck until I had to live without it for going on 2 weeks now. Daily driving the CT5-V or the Spyder just doesn't cut it.

I'm gonna have it detailed as well before I get back in the driver's seat to make the first drive even more special.
