I have a 2025 Ram 1500 Limited with the trailer brake controller. I would like to install a light bar under my tailgate. I was told that even if I use a 4 pin splitter, that I would still get the TRAILER ATTACHED signal and would lose my back up warning and back up camera.
I haven't tried yet but would like input on how anyone has worked around this problem.

thanks.

If you just want a light to put light on the ground behind the truck, If it were me, I would get the light I wanted and mount it where I wanted it. Then use a spool of trailer wire, take two leads off the four, and run the leads to the battery with a stop in the cab. mount a switch there for the hot lead and then back to the light. I had emergency lights (I'm a vol. firefighter) ran that way for several trucks and it works great. You can run the wiring into the cab on the firewall thru one of the rubber gromets that the factory uses to bring their wiring into the cab. Hope that helps.

I have a second plug in the bed so it hasn't been a problem. Prior truck I spliced into the plug behind the bumper and it didn't cause any problems. But it was an older truck.
