The Sharkfin has an extra antenna inside for the cellular connection. (I suspect you knew that since you're planning on changing it). You will need an extra wiring harness that will have to be routed above the headliner and down the A-pillar to the radio. Which harness you need varies on if you have a single cab or a Quad/Crew cab. The link below shows the possible parts for my 2014, I think the 2017 will be the same.
I also see that you're in Canada, I assume your truck was made for Canada? I ask because the Canadian radios are different and usually don't have the cellular system and, iirc, would not need the shark fin antenna. Someone more familiar with the Canadian radio setup may be able to provide better details.

The XM and GPS both work off the puck, the Sharkfin is only needed for the 911 and other cellular functions (over the air updates, etc).

Keep in mind when you update your antenna you may have to change some settings with alpha for gps to work. At least i did.

My truck didn't even come with a shark fin or Puck type antenna, but I have nav on my vp4 and alpine system, not sure where they hid the antenna.
