I have a 1500 4x4 and am planning to move to a 6.4 2500. I use it as a DD and for towing a #7500 trailer. I seldom had the need to run in 4x4. My question is if the available anti spin rear end is a substitute for 4 wheel drive. The trailer may sometimes be pulled in wet grass. Any thoughts?

Do not get a 2wd! These damn trucks are way to heavy to not get 4x4. I've had to use it 3 times just driving on my parents property in sand. The LSD is awesome but not enough for how heavy these trucks are.

The rear will just start to dig in, in any soft terrains. And I'm not running the stock tires ether.

I'm up in the Hudson valley NY. I know the moment I need 4 wheel I'll then wish I had it. Thanks for comments...

I'm missing 2 cylinders
yeah these trucks weigh a lot. Ive taken my 1500 2wd down to the coast a few times and it did fine in the sand. Took the 2500 4x4 down there once and the moment it hit the sand it started to sink in, definitely needed the 4x4 in a truck of that size and weight

It is not just a weight thing but also the air in the tires on an HD are usually more than double that of a 1500. If you air down to 30 psi (no lower than 25 psi) instead of 80 psi then I would bet it would make a big difference in traction in the sand or just about any terrain.

Savings is not worth it. You will have poor resale and when you need it you will be pissed you went the 2WD path.
