I know this topic is a bit beat to death but I need fresh coolant for my '14

I'm doing some research into what I should actually buy to put in the cooling system since its apparently a little more compicated then I thought it'd be. My local auto parts place has this OAT Prestone dexcool brand coolant which is orange in color. The parts guy knows our trucks are finicky with coolant and said that best case scenario I buy from the dealership, otherwise he's has people buy this Prestone dexcool OAT for our trucks and hasn't had a complaint. On the back of the jug it does claim to be compatible with Chrysler vehicles 2013+.

The only purple I could find nearby is for Euro vehicles or for diesel big rigs.

This is the Prestone stuff: https://www.walmart.ca/en/ip/presto...LmKcO7M66OclsIEYh3BoC34oQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

The coolant in my pickup came out orange, but I presume it was purple when brand new as they say it changes color over time. Is any quality OAT good to go or should I get the stuff straight from the dealer? The same size jug at the dealer is 3x the price and the dealership is a couple hours away. Any suggestions?

Drain it completely and throw universal stuff in. Been using that method for about 6 years now. My reasoning behind it is I live in northern Canada and spend alot of time in the bush. Gas station stores and passer by's are more likely to have universal coolant than hoat or oat or goat or whatever new fandangled coolant Dodge has come up with now to make money off of.
That's my two cents.

I would totally flush the thing several times and not worry so much about what I refill it with if I wasn't confined to working out doors below freezing. Just worried about the water freezing in there. Wish I did this in the summer.

Throw your original coolant back in a run it till it's warmer, another couple months and we'll be into April, that'd be a better time to do all this,as you need to pull the block drains to get all the coolant out of the block.

Mopar 10 year coolant is almost identical to peak global life, they are oat coolants without eh2a (dex) and silicates or phosphates you see with other coolants. Just pure ethylene glycol base. When you mix it with any other coolant, you lose the advantage of testing coolant by color. As long as the coolant is still orangeish you might consider Mopar ten year coolant, if not go to peak global life. Prestone does make a FCA clone, cant remember if I was impressed with it or not, all you have to do is look at the SDS sheets, if it is close to 100% eg with no dex then you are good. Never buy a coolant that comes in an orange container, try one that has a purple container or the EG lifetime coolants.

You have a 2014, the year the casting sand issue started, you might want to get and run a bottle of rmi-25 before you start your flush. Drive 500 miles, any contamination in system will be trapped in overflow tank.

Just a heads up for everyone. The color of the coolant has absolutely nothing to do with it. You have to look at what kind of coolant it is. Different brands of coolant and different manufacturers use different colors for the same types of coolants. You can't go by color alone. Find out what kind of coolant your vehicle uses and base it on that not the color

i can say that since 2014 to present day
Gas powered FCA/ Stellantis vehicles only come with
MOPAR OAT Coolant, it is a 10 year life span coolant

If you go by the color in your radiator, draw some out of the radiator & view it out in the sun light, do not go by the color of the coolant while it is inside the radiator.

FCA / Stellantis is really the problem
They should clear up their Part Numbers
HOW Many 68******* numbers are there

If you think that BURLA/s explanation of our North American Anti-Freeze / Coolant for our Rams, Chargers, etc. is confusing.

read this article :

look at page 15 of the MOPAR catalog

where are all the numbers that you find on AMAZON coming from ?

If you look at the differant numbers,it appears to be based on the size of the order
A 1 gallon jug is a differant number based on whether it's ordered as 1 jug or if it's ordered as a 1/2 pallet load / full pallet or as a drum

CONCENTRATE ANTIFREEZE/COOLANT 10-YEAR/150,000-MILE Ethylene glycol-based formulation to prevent freeze-up and boil-over while inhibiting corrosion. Must not be mixed with any non-conforming antifreeze. OAT (Organic Acid Technology). Developed for new vehicle technologies

1 Gallon "Bottle" MSQ: 4 Bottles Part No. 68163848AB

Gallon "Half Pallet" MSQ: 84Part No. 68306483AB

Gallon "Pallet" MSQ: 68Part No. 68306476AB

Gallon "Drum" MSQ: 55Part No. 68140983AA*
