I have a 65k 14 express QC. For a while I have been chasing an intermittent air bag system warning that is often first triggered by a bump in the road/pothole then chiming for so real reason periodically after that. I am not sure exactly where it started however I had to relocate the underseat connectors after installing a lock box. On a hunch I fiddled with the yellow seat air bag connector and low and behold the warning went away. For a month...... Then it came back the same.

After getting annoyed I'd fiddle with the same connector again, tweaking the contacts to ensure good connection and again it goes away for months, then back again. This has gone on 4-5 times so far.

As far as I looked the dealer is the only one who can read air bag codes. Maybe I am wrong.

After going thru the same over and over I am now doubting the seat connector I have been playing with is the root cause and there is something in the system which gives the illusion of a fix. Perhaps it resets a timer that prevents another issue from showing a fault for an amount of time and its really another problem.

Right now I am in the middle of a series of faults. As typical it started with a bump in the road shuddering the truck but after that its random, occurring thru gentle turns and the like but still no rhyme or reason. I am now suspecting the clock spring.

Short of bringing it to the dealer for diagnosis and repair I am trying to figure the best way to fix it myself. Any thoughts as to a clock spring being the fault? Any other tips?

Most likely they seat airbag harness has a loose connection. Somewhat common. Fix is to replace the harness.

A few days ago I drove 1.5 miles to the grocery store and it pinged at least half a dozen times on the way. While at the store I reached under and stuffed the connector in between the lock box I installed and carpet. It has been a few days and has yet to make a peep.

So I agree, it has to be in that wiring. Considering there is a connector there, there are two harnesses in play. The one that comes out of the carpet and the one that goes into the seat. Has anybody identified what the issue is? Is it the crimped terminals, broken wires somewhere in the insulation away from the connector?

If this is somewhat common you'd think these trucks would be plagued with more electrical issues unless the airbag wiring and connector are unique.....

It’s usually a crimp issue on one of the pins or the pin has poor tension.

I tweaked the male pins a few times to ensure interference with the females and still had issues so it must be the crimps. I wonder if I disassemble the connectors and tin the crimp with solder....

Hopefully Chryslers poor connector game is limited to just this junction.......

My experience on a work Ram was that the connector looked fine when disassembled but when assembled one of the pins pushed back and eventually backed out enough to ask the headlight go out. Apples to oranges I know but similar in concept. You might try pulling on the wires while connected to see if anything is being pushed back?

Just something more to try. Hope it helps.
