Unless you have lesnes made for H.I.D.S it is not worth the time or money to install them besides to make all on coming traffic mad. Factory headlights where designed for halogens so they do not disperse the light from the New bulbs like they should. Just my 2 cents. Tried it was dissapointed now I have a set of Bi-xenon HIDs sitting on my shelf.

Where they not as bright as you thought they would be? Why don't they give out the light like they should?

Oh the bulbs are birght dont get me wrong. But the Useable light that is put out bye Halogen Reflectors is nto very good. If I would retrofit to a set of projectors it would make the useable light they give off worth while. It really wasnt any better than halogen in factory housings. Just made way more people flash me going down the road.

HIDs require special reflector housings designed for HIDs, or better yet, projector housings which are by far better and focus the light in a perfect pattern. Otherwise you just have brighter light in the bad pattern, and only slightly improve what you see while blinding oncoming traffic.

I have projector housings made by a ramforum member, pricy, but on par with my Audi HIDs (minus the adaptive feature that moves the housing with the steering wheel).

As long as you get a good set of hids (ddm tuning, the retro shop, the retrofit source) that have the reflector shield around the bulbs, stick with 35 watts, under 6000k, and re aim them after the install, you will be ok with them in factory housings. Is it ideal, no, but you will be fine. Most of the glare that people talk about with hids comes from dumb kids running around in civics with 55 watt 12000k hids in junk ebay housings. I had a set of ddm tuning hids in my 07 tacoma, 35 watts, 5000k, re aimed them after the install, and in 3 and a half years, never got flashed once. And I could see so much better. I can put up a pic on here of the beam pattern of them if I can find it. Modern headlights do a pretty good job at controlling light output. Now if you go and do a sealed beam conversion on an old cherokee or slap them into an old civic, yes you will **** off everyone on the road around you. I just could never justify it to myself to spend 1k+ on a set of headlights.

Also, don't forget, you HAVE to get the chrysler can bus his harness from the retrofit source or the retro shop. This is not optional if you are installing hids. It is required.

That's only my fog lights in both pictures. The pic still doesn't do it justice as seeing it in person

On my 04 i been running Flashtech 8k BiXenons and 8k fogs for about 8 years no problem. Got them from uniquecoatings. I have mine pointed way down but i do agree in having oem hid housings or retrofit done if using halogen housings. Recently did a retrofit to my 07 Grand Cherokee and love it.
