Anyone ever opened up OEM LED Tails?

I feel like the border of sport tails look darker on some trucks than mine. And I kind of like a black border. Was considering buying a set of Laramie tails, and painting the chrome outlines black, reassembling, and lightly smoking the lights to match the OE smoke. Was just curious if anyone had even opened up an oem LED tail.

Bump. I'm sure someone has. I know I've seen a guy on Instagram with a white 2500 that has the inside painted white.

I'm not sure of anyone who has done the factory tail lights, those white ones you saw were probably Recon lights opened up and painted. I've seen a lot of those. Retro shop does them and have a few different ones posted on their site

I was thinkin this same idea but installing some LED's of my own since I have the old school type on mine.

There's a broken one on eBay at the moment. Suggest using that first. I'm looking for a broken spyder Sonar light to do some experiments with.
