As I continue to black out my truck, i've been debating what exhaust tips to go with. I see a lot of people do Moes or Carvens, but I came across these Gibson tips and I like the way they look. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with them? The inlet is for exhausts 2.25-2.5" and the outlet is 5" (the pic below is a generic picture of the product). The stock tail pipe section is a little longer than 12" should i shouldn't have a problem cutting off about 10" worth and sliding these on. The real benefit I see to these is that you can set the depth of where the tip will sit in relation to the bumper.

Similar in price to the carvens and moes. The cheapest I’ve seen is about $80 each. However I like the fact that they are rolled and slash cut like the factory tips, and they’re already black. I believe the carvens aren’t rolled, and the moes come chrome.

How do they mount up? Are you able to use the stock mounts so you can adjust how the tips sit in the bumper cutouts? If not any future exhaust changes could make it difficult to line things up easily.

They just clamp on. The stock tail pipe section is about 14-15 inches from what I remember. So I would hack off about 10 inches and clamp these on.

That’s what I figured you’d be doing.

This is what i will get if I ever change mine out. $200 for tips is crazy! If they are black, there is no point in paying a ton of money for name brand tail pipes. Cant see the name anyways.

3.5” won’t be a direct bolton to the factory pipe, plus those aren’t rolled. Im afraid of buying a cheap pair and having the coating peel. I believe Gibson has a lifetime warranty on them.

not sure about the peeling but a double wall will be a better tip in the long run than a rolled that is single wall. I had $50 a pair tips on my 1st 2012 express, they were awesome and lasted...looking the same as the day I put them on!
I have another set for my "new" '12 sport got them at Carlisle last year from the same dude! Ill post pics in a few weeks when my buddy has time to tig them on

They’re already suppose to be powder coated lol

Yeah but if they dont blast them before powdercoat, coating wont stick. I learned that when i made fender flares for my jeep, and powdercoated them. Also zinc primer needs to be used so they dont rust over time.
