Ya know, I am NOT trying to be argumentative, but everyone always says that WOT downshifts are what kills these transmissions. And I am NOT arguing with that one single bit. BUT, I have over 72,000 miles on my two year old truck now, and I WOT downshift almost every single day. Usually at least a couple times, sometimes alot. I do not abuse my truck in any other way than that. But I do pass trucks etc driving slow and will floor it whenever I pass to get by them quicker. Judge me or not. Don't care....LOL. Seriously this tranny has held up to that quite well. Whenever I do blow it up I will get a built one to replace it, on my dime, not Dodge / Ram. MY fault I know it will be. I idle a LOT every day (sometimes ALL day - 12 or more hours), in high heat (South Texas), in dusty dusty dusty conditions, and this tranny is still shifting like a brand new one, even doing all those WOT downshifts from 60 mph. Or 40 mph. Or 70 mph. Or.... I had the fluid / filter changed / flushed at the dealer the first time at 30,000 miles, then 2000 miles later had the Edge torque converter installed (the shop I used replaced a few quarts of fluid with new), then changed it the second time at 70,000 miles at dealer again. So I am **** about fluid changes etc. My mods have all been on there for at least a year and a half, with the torque converter and HF tune (ran Bully Dog 93 tune before this) being installed at 30,000 miles probably a year or less ago. I run 93 tune. TC, PTB, CAI, 180 TS, HF tune. So, everyone 'splain to me why MY tranny hasn't failed yet. I am sure it will one day, but I downshift like hell when I pass and I don't usually use the shifter to do it. So what gives on this issue, guys and girls? Don't flame me, I may have gotten the only trans that was built well. lol
