I was just curious for those who have installed ARH's LT headers, what did you do with the dipstick tube? I installed my headers earlier this year, and the dipstick tube was a major PIA to get reinstalled as it needs to be tweaked. That said, I left it bolted in with just the lower bracket, and the upper bracket free, and since then it has broken the lower bracket off the dipstick tube. Before I go replacing it, I just wanted to know how everyone else has gone about theirs. Maybe there is a better way of routing it than the way I had, but its a subject that no one has really brought up on these 6.4 2500's.

Thanks for any input.

Look into a flexible dipstick

I have to an extent. The only ones I see are Lokar, but they are not specific to the 6.4 Hemi in the 2500, but the 5.7, 6.1, 6.4 SRT motors that have the stick on the passenger side, etc. I suppose I might be able to get them to make me a custom one, but surely someone has come up with a satisfactory solution. Otherwise I might try to contact Moe's on Monday and see if they have any tips.

The 5.7 trucks have the tube on the drivers side. Lokar ED5015-24 is the number if i remember right for the 24" long version. I had them make me up a 31" long one years ago. If you decide to get them to make you a custom one "Do Not" tell them it's for a truck, they'll automatically say "No". Tell them it's for a custom turbo installation on a 5.7 Challenger, and you want it such and such a length. If i was re-doing it again,i'd have it made 33 or 34" long.31" long reaches up to roughly where the stock hardline dipstick reaches to,but another couple inches longer would of been nice. This of course assumes the 6.4 dipstick and the 5.7 dipstick are semi comparable.

Didn't see a 6.4 truck version but im sure someone can make you one or fab it to work, i figure another oem will eventually snap again and being able to see oil level is pretty important. The lokar on mine was just installed last week, have a feeling the oil level may not be as accurate as oem but at least I have a dipstick intact lol

Right, and I have no idea if they are comparable. I know the part number for the dipstick itself is the same amongst the 5.7 and 6.4, but the difference is going to be in the tube length and depth of the oil pan, I would imagine. Out of curiosity, any idea why they would just say now because its a truck?

How does it mount down on the block where it passes through? The truck 5.7 and 6.4 dipsticks and tubes are the same part number. Does your dipstick measure the oil level properly?

Yes it does, but i made sure to set the cable length identical to the stock dipstick. I made up a little bracket out of an Adel clamp (rubber insulated clamp) to hold the bottom in place, but realistically you could probably get away with out it,as the O-ring creates a pretty snug fit into the block. No idea why they say "no" if it's for a truck, but anybody who has phoned them and said it's for a truck, seems to be told no they don't have one. I got mine through their custom end of things, and did it all by phone, not email.I find it's easier to talk to the guys making you something custom using the phone, then by email. If the dipstick tube is the same part number, odds are the dipstick itself is the same, the external dimensions of the 5.7 and 6.4 are identical, and i'm guessing so are the oil pans if they're both truck engines. The 24" long version reaches to the brake booster on the 1500's,and thats where most guys bolt it to. I did this a little over 6 years ago now,but i'd hunt up their phone number and see if they'll still make you a custom one,it might be a univerisal fit,and good chance you'll have to match the cable length to your original dipstick. The 5.7 cars and 5.7 trucks use the same dipstick ends,so i'm guessing the 6.4 does to.

I have called Lokar a few times asking for the custom shop or asking for a custom one made for a turbo Chally but every time the answer is no they don't make custom length anymore sadly. Wish there was another option out there.

Did you ask them if they'd make you a universal fit one the length you want with the 5.7 car ends, sometimes you gotta ask them the "right" questions, lol. Then you'd have to cut the cable to the proper length. Seems to me i think that's the way i did it,had a universal one made up the length i wanted,as i had to set the cable length myself, but it's been a 1/2 dozen years since i had mine made.

Oh nice, I never asked for a universal fit one. I will call them tomorrow and try that. Do you know what size the hole is that goes into the pan? Is it 5/16 - 3/8 or something around there"? I can grab my calipers and measure my dipstick when I get home if you don't know off the top of your head.

I did send Motion Raceworks an email too to ask if they know of anyone that makes custom ones too. Crossing my fingers on that one too.

There has to be a company out there that will make custom length dipsticks. Seems like such a small thing in a world with crazy custom cars.

Hi, I bought ARH long tube headers for my 2019 RAM 1500 5.7 and am having issues with this dipstick situation. Wished I had known this was a common problem before getting them. Anyhow, I wanted to follow up on this thread to see if the stock Lokar ED5015-24 24" dipstick would work or if there have been any new developments regarding this topic during the past year. I did call Lokar to custom order one but they wouldn't do that and basically said 24" is the longest I could get. I did tell them it was for a 5.7 Challenger as suggested but made no difference to the rep. Any comments, advise will greatly be appreciated.

The 24" is what most guys end up using, and alot of them bolt it to the brake booster bolt.

Exactly what DILLIGAF said. I bent the original dipstick to fit.

The only side effect ive had from bending the tube is pulling the dipstick in/out. It gets caught a bit, but its nothing a little wiggling wont solve.

Sometimes that works/sometimes it doesn't.When we did my headers years ago,the dipstick cracked at the bottom where it comes out the block when we flexed it.I also knew the headers were going to come back off in a couple months to do the cam,so i just contacted Lokar and got a custom one from them

Thanks for your replies guys. @WildOne, how were you able to order a custom one? I tried that and told them it was for a Challenger as suggested on past replies but no luck on that. I had to settle with ordering the 24" Lokar dipstick and will be installing it this weekend. Hope it works.

I would even bother you to inquire on my behalf since you've ordered one before, would that be too much to ask from you? If they agree to do it, I'd buy it from you. As you can see, I'm desperate to get it done right. Sorry for my overreaching...

Order a universal one about 33/34" long and tell them you want it shipped with the ends for a 5.7 Challenger, then you'll have to match the dipticks length from the bottom mount so it's the same length as the factory dipstick is from the bottom mount.

Thanks Wild. I ended up buying the 24" long one and had it mounted to the brake booster. So far so good. Only question I have is if the hose touches the exhaust pipes, will this be a concern later on?
