Well I'm pretty much done with the audio mods for the truck hopefully. I have the Alpine 10 speaker system in the truck. One mod was putting putting polyfill in the sub box to make it bassier witch it did do. Now I can vibrate the rearview mirror which I couldn't do before. The other mod was replacing the 6x9 door speakers. It was a pretty much direct replacement. Pretty much looks stock for the wiring. Overall it did improve the sound tone wise. I did find out that the Alpine system is controlled tone wise. The front doors do mid and bass only and the rear doors only do mids and highs.

Doors were pretty easy to remove once I figured them out. Much better than older vehicles with the stupid push pins that are crap after once or twice removed.

Here are some pictures of the install.

doors are simple to remove. There is one screw behind the door handle(covered) then all around the outside edge there's torx plastic screws of sorts. Its just a threaded plastic thing that goes into a socket. Its 2 piece. Then the panel just hands there. It has hooks that hook into the door its self. Once I figured it out I can get one off in minutes if I was rushing.

Did the new speakers make that much of a difference is sound? I know the factory amp has crossovers built in and sends more of a mid range signal to the front 6x9s. Also, did you change the dash speakers as well, which I think are 3 1/2s?

Unfortunally with the alpine system it is crossed over. The front doors do mid to midbass. the rear doors do mid to highs. The rears did bring more highs into it over the stock speakers. The fronts did a little more mid but not much. I think if I went with lower wattage speakers i think it would have sounded better. I did loose overall loudness going with higher wattage speakers. But without the sub in the alpine system there would be little bass unless because of my higher wattage speakers I lost some punch. I have a 12" fox box with a JL amp so Bass is not a problem.

I didn't replace the dash speakers yet and not sure I will.
