Just as i thought i was understanding some of this stereo stuff, turns out i am still way out left field..
This ohms law stuff you guys talk about kinda befuddled me some...From what im reading the ram audio is all 2 ohms correct?? So why are guys useing some of the kicker gear thats 4 ohms? Doesnt that affect the output as well as quality??

So i just saw a vid that someone else posted a link to thats maken me think...Seems the best bang for quality is changein out the head unit 1st and not the speakers like most here seem to be doin with positive feedback, see now im lost..
Adding a Receiver and Speakers to a Ford F-150

So if indeed thats correct, who has the 8.4 alpine thats changed the head unit with positive results and still have the same and or more options as factory...

Ill be sitting back haven a beer with chips n dipp while you fellas discuss the issue..

Oh and crutchfields has a canadian branch to that i just discovered today..

In most cars, swapping out the head unit is the most effective. You typically upgrade power to the speakers, while adding more control over the sound, and introducing a cleaner source.

However, if you have the 8.4N with Alpine. Good luck. As far as I know there is no way to replace the deck. You would be better off retaining the 8.4N, adding in a factory integration piece and adding a DSP, then adding speakers and an amp.

That won't even work for your system actually. You can try finding a used JBL MS-8, a Rockford Fosgate 360.3, things of that nature will tie into your existing equipment, be able to tune your system, and send signal to the amplifiers.

Or you can keep it basic and do a simple summing device. Kicker sells one called the SUM8 I believe.

What are factory sound processors?

The msg i got back was to read the info...They have yet to have time to research my vehicleup to this point....

I replied that unless the audio changed sence 2014 the 8.4 head unit should be the same and mine is a 2016...I mentioned that lotsa fellas on the forums would love to know..

What do you need to know? That link they sent you explains exactly what you need and why you need it.

Make it easy: 2 ohms is the Alpine system - 4ohms is the non-Alpine. Kicker upgrades go great in the standard/non-alpine trucks. That's what I read anyway..

Just ordered my upgrades for my Alpine system - JBL GX302 fronts and GX693 rear doors and Pioneer sub. Seems to be the best bang for the buck. In it less than $300 for everything.

Does the alpine come as a 6 speaker system? Because in mine, the dash speakers I changed out were 2 ohm. And I have a 6 speaker and 8.4
