Aux button for rear view camera?

I will be adding the tailgate handle camera to my 2010 with RER head unit, I was thinking about also adding the replacement aux buttons to the dash where the ram logo is, my question is what tells the head unit to turn on cam when in reverse can I wire one of those switches to turn it on whenever?

first you will have to get your head unit re-programmed to accept the rear view cam. second its all controlled through the can-bus system so you cant just trigger something with a switch. third if you want to be able to view your cam whenever you need a lockpic. the advantage with a locpic is then you dont need the dealer to program anything.
