I am considering adding a throttle controller to my 2024 6.4L Big Horn.

It looks like I have three options, being the 9Drive, a Pedal Commander & the Banks Pedal Monster.

I used a 9Drive on my Jeep Gladiator and, for the most part, it was OK. It was easy to install; the display was visible but unobtrusive and there were plenty of settings to choose from. In fact, there were too many settings to choose from and when testing to select a setting I found it went from mild to wild with nothing in between. I won't be making that mistake again so the 9Drive is off the table.

An option is the Pedal Commander PC31. I've never used this device, but it seems simple enough and also easy to install. It installs in the accelerator pedal main circuit and there appears to be enough cord to install it within a reasonable distance on the dash with good visibility.

Lastly is the Banks Pedal Monster. Again, I have never used this device. The installation seems fairly straight-forward but it differs from the first two offering as it connects directly to the OBD port under the dash. One of the main differences I see between it and the PC31 is what data it can draw to truly customize your throttle response. The PC31 has quite a few settings offering some flexibility. However, those are preset and do not take advantage of customizing your torque curves based on throttle input.

Since the last two products pricing are competitive with one another, I am leaning towards the Pedal Monster.

Anyone have experience with one or the other, or possibly both, that can shed some light on the good, the bad or the ugly of these devices?

Thanks in advance.

I had the Pedal Monster for my F150 Ecoboost and liked it. There wasn't a lot to do with it outside of adjusting the pedal response to your liking. Plenty of options from absolutely crazy to dead pedal. I was hoping they would add support for 2025s so I can use it my 2500 but haven't yet. It is nice that if the pedal monster has any issues it reverts back to stock. Also tones down reverse so it's safe and easy to use especially if you got it cranked up.

I never had an issues, always worked flawlessly for me.

I had the PC on my Hemi and it worked great. I have the Pedal Monster for my Ram EcoD now and it operates exactly the same. The benefit of the PM is the added safety features built in. Only downsides are it takes up your OBD port and you have to use the app to change settings...no physical buttons. If you can get either on sale, I say jump on it. I have no experience with the 9-drive.

I had a Pedal Commander on two of my Ram trucks--2013 and 2016. I installed them, set them and never changed the setting. I never had any problem whatsoever. I have read that some people have had problems with the Pedal Commander but when I visted with some of the people they said the problems only happened when they tried to change the settings on the fly. I never changed mine so like I said I never had a problem. The other two that you mention, I have had no experience with.

I've had a PC-31 installed on my Hemi for almost 2 months.

I believe it has significantly improved my truck's performance and, more importantly, my enjoyment factor.

I would never consider owning a V8 without a PC or Pedal Monster; that seems almost pointless now.

I bought a V8 because I enjoy having the available power to get moving when I want.
I never have concerns or wonder if I have enough time to get to the next intersection before the pack of oncoming cars or have enough time to pass a slowpoke on rural highways.

I've tried several settings, but I haven't moved it since about day 2.
Set to 'City +4', it reminds me of driving V8s in the '70s or early '80s.
You can easily donate rubber to the pavement if you're not focused enough.

I feel as though I had to relearn using the accelerator pedal again to avoid sudden blast-offs or disrupting the comfort of my GF. She's quite OK with quick accelerations while passing, but usually has a comment if I accidentally launch from an intersection. LOL

I may explore the Sport settings again next summer, but winter has started already.

While I like some of the Pedal Monster features, I would use a port splitter for the OBD2, if I had one of those. I don't worry about backing up too rapidly with the PC, I tend to always use caution while in reverse.

I will be dialling it back when I drop off my truck for an alarm installation next week.

I have no experience with the other 2 devices.

I'm considering both the PC and the PM for my truck, but the PM is winning me over as it's an OBD port interface vs an add-on link to the pedal circuit like the PC has.

The PM is also designed with safety features that the PC doesn't have.

Back in the day I had the Sprint Booster and it was pretty good.
Although, it too was a product that was connected to the pedal circuit like the PC, and that always had a bit of a potential worry in the back of my brain.

Another feature I like about it as it fails safe and won't immobilize your vehicle.

That, above all other features and reviews, has helped me make my purchase decision.

I'm selecting the Pedal Monster.

I've had the 9drive and pedal monster. Here's my 2 cents.

9 drive worked great til it didn't. Leaving the jobsite (6 hours from home) going to the hotel which was like a 3 mile drive. 3 blocks before the hotel slowing down for a red light the rpms started jumping up to 1500rpms. Come to a stop and rpms continue to bounce from idle up to 1500. I limped it to the hotel disconnected the 9 drive and everything was back to normal. Never hooked it back up and eventually threw it in the garbage.

Banks pedal monster was great. I used an obd port splitter so I could still use the obd port if needed. I just had one hiccup with it leaving the campground came to a stop sign. Stopped the truck "chugged" a little and died. Fired right back up. Throttle seemed a little different for the first couple of miles then was fine the rest of the day, but could tell the throttle was back to stock. The next weekend I went to drive it again and for craps and giggles I fired up the banks app and it said it needed to be reconnected. I reconnected it and pedal monster was back in action. I'm not sure if you need to go into the app every once in awhile or what. As I had it set on the setting I liked and left it there. Probably didn't open up the app for a month or so maybe longer. My phone also will close apps that haven't been used in awhile. So maybe my phone did it or I don't know. I'm not very tech savvy. Ended up selling the pedal monster as I was going to get a custom tune but the truck is not my daily driver so I've been dragging my feet. And every time I drive the wife's suburban with the 5.3 I remember just how powerful the 6.4 is and I'm fine how it is.

I have the Pedal Commander in my truck and I have never had an issue with it. I have changed it on the fly many times with no problem. My truck is older so idk if that has anything to do with it but I have never had it set a code or make the pedal non responsive.

I do like the Monster Pedal but it plugs into the OBD port and I already have my engine monitor plugged in there. With that said, it also works with the Banks iDash so in theory you can have the same functionality. The only downside to that setup is the price.

I have had both on my Rams since 2018. Never had any issues with either with exception of a few times with the PC. I disconnected, restarted and then reconnected a day or two later. I've got the Monster now and am quite happy with it. I rarely change my settings, but it's easy enough since it's an app on my phone.

Reading with interest. I don’t have a truck but my 15 SRT Challenger NEEDS one of these units, tired of burning tires at every stoplight. In a parking lot afraid of running into another car because it’s so touchy, it’s ON or OFF no in between. Putting it in vallet makes it livable but no power then. I hope these are made for cars too.

I run my 2017 Rebel in City 10. Stock is ok, but City 10 is where these should be. I don't think you will be able to turn yours down but it does remove the lag. I tried sport 3 and would chirp the tires in our incline driveway so I had to turn it down
Haven't even attempted Track mode.

I ordered the Pedal Monster and it's on the way.

I will update this thread with my impressions.

Is the car tuned,as it sounds like it's had the pedal response turned up through a tune.Wifes had 2 Challengers first a 16 then a 19,neither one was what i'd call jumpy, and the 19 was Dodges drag race oriented 1320.

I have a 2025 Ram 1500 3.6L V6 4x4. I don’t see that Banks offers the Pedal Monster yet for that year and engine. Does anyone know if they will be releasing it soon or if there is a model I’m not seeing that works with my engine? Thanks

Why not just ask/email Banks that would be the logical thing to do :Big Laugh:
